Members, Friends and Neighbors,
For those of us who prefer warmer climes, this has been the perfect winter in CT.  But for those of us who enjoy snow, this winter has been a dud. Things have been looking up in the last few days though! Have you wondered what a winter like this does to local wildlife? Here is a short and informative article about why this winter has been mild and the effect on our wild friends.

We hope you will join us to celebrate conservation in Connecticut on February 13th.  There are many victories to toast! More info below.

Many Naromi Board members are heading to Middletown in March to participate in the CT Land Conservation Council's annual state-wide conference. The conference is a great learning opportunity for anyone interested in conservation, to enjoy the camaraderie of our colleagues, and this year for Naromi to share the wisdom gained by our recent stewardship collaboration with Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust.  Let us know if you are interested in getting involved and learning more.
Annual February Hike/Snowshoe
Join John Foley on Saturday February 27th to hike at Bear Mountain Reservation on the New Fairfield/Danbury line. Without leaves, we should be able to see Candlewood Lake and its got a great vernal pool!  Bring snowshoes if there is snow, otherwise this will be a hike. Stay tuned for details soon.

Conservation Incentive Celebration
On Saturday, February 13th from 10 AM-12 PM, Naromi Land Trust is joining with many other land trusts and conservation organizations to sponsor a Conservation Celebration in Kent to recognize the recent legislative victories for conservation and the important work being done by Connecticut's land trusts. Land trusts from throughout the state, local and statewide leaders, and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Christopher Murphy, as well as Representative Elizabeth Esty will be there. The Celebration will include a panel discussion and public Q&A session on conservation strategies and recent successes. Snow date is 2/28, 1-3 PM. Thanks to Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust for organizing this event!
