Learning to Protect & Preserve Land for the Future
Naromi Land Trust will be offering a free training session on Saturday, November 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm to train potential volunteers who wish to learn about being a land steward on Naromi properties. This program is in conjunction with Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust and through the support of the Land Trust Alliance. Paul Elconin, Director of Land Conservation at Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust, will lead the program. Part of the program will be an indoor training session and part will be outdoors conducting an actual monitoring field session.

A land steward is a volunteer who monitors a Naromi property or easement at least annually. Monitoring a conservation property includes walking property lines and other key areas, and completing a form to ensure the conservation commitment is being documented and any changes can be addressed. This process in integral to Naromi's Mission to protect the natural resources of Sherman for the benefit of, and use by, current and future generations.

This is a great opportunity for everyone who would like to make an impact in maintaining the beauty and integrity of conserved lands. We hope you can join us on November 14th. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Naromi Land Trust at naromi@sbcglobal.net or call 860-354-0260 for more information or to reserve your place.

Participants should be dressed appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Lunch will be provided. Participants who are under 18 years of age are encouraged to participate in the training and should be accompanied by a parent/guardian in both the training and commitment to become a land steward. All participants will meet at the Sherman Senior Center at 8 Route 37 Center in Sherman.
Even more interesting events coming up!
