Members, Friends and Neighbors,
The fall is such a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors in CT, we hope you get to spend lots of time at your favorite Naromi Preserve!  Let us know where you are, what you see, and what your favorite activity is: hiking at Towner Hill, enjoying the view of the Housatonic River Valley from the Herrick Trail, flying kites at Hadlow Fields, observing wildlife at the Wimisink Boardwalk.
Hunting Season is upon us in Connecticut.  Everyone who spends time in or near the woods should wear fluorescent orange for safety.  Hunting Season will start soon in Connecticut and New York.  The approximate dates for archery are 9/15 to 12/31 and for shotgun/rifle are 11/18 to 12/31, however there is no hunting allowed in CT on Sundays.  Here is information on hunting in CT and more safety tips
Paddle on Squantz Pond this Weekend!
Naromi will lead a paddling trip on Squantz Pond on Saturday, September 12th. Rain date is Sunday 9/13. The group will paddle west around the beach and following the rocky outcrop shoreline north. It will take about 3 hours give or take for a round trip.

We will meet at 8:30 AM at the boat ramp located in the lower parking lot of Squantz Pond State Park (178 Short Woods Rd. New Fairfield, CT 06810).  There will be no lifeguard on duty and all participants must wear personal floatation device (PFD).

Send an email to naromi@sbcglobal.net to register.  We have a limited number of vessels available to borrow, please email or call (860-354-0260) the office asap if you would like to use one of those boats.
Wildlife around Sherman

Naromi's wildlife sentinels have been active all summer.  Here are some of our favorite images sent into the office. Do you have a favorite image of wildlife from around Sherman?  We'd love to see it!  Send it to naromi@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks to Dennis Larkin for the Pileated Woodpecker and Hummingbird, and to John Foley for the Box Turtle hatchlings.
Naromi's Picnic is coming up!
