Follow Me... Over the last several years, we've looked at core identity in Christ through the formational journey, character transformation through commitment to holy habits and work on self that nurtures an ever-deepening relationship with God in Christ as modeled to us through the life of Daniel, and the development of competencies through discovering our place in ministry. This year our MVP Leadership study explores Jesus' call to follow him. Marjorie Zoet Bankson defines "call as an invitation to wholeness, a spiritual prompting to complete the work of love that we are here to do." Through the life of Peter, we will explore God's call in Christ as it involves: - Resistance What are the patterns of resistance in your life right now? What do these patterns have to tell you about call? - Reclaiming In reclaiming, we seek the form behind our skills - the original seed of call, the DNA of our souls. Reclaiming is not simply a process of reminiscence but of observation and action. What essential part of you is God calling you to reclaim? - Revelation happens in the cusp between kairos and chronos time; it brings with it ambivalence and uncertainty, possibility and potential danger. This is the way of new vision being born. What has God revealed to your heart? - Crossing Over True revelation demands a response. It demands a "crossing over," coupled with a willingness to be changed, healed, and expanded as we confront the barriers between belief and embodiment. To cross over, we must confront our fears. To what must you attend in order to cross over? - Risk Deep within us is planted the seed of new creation - dreams for a better world and wild hope that our visions can be realized. We need to act to make our dreams real. Risk is the courage to change. Risk requires that we be willing to fail as well as succeed, to be wrong as well as to be right. What is God calling you to risk? - Relate Call cannot be fully manifested without community. Community that takes seriously God's call understands the importance of shared purpose. Yet developing such community is neither easy nor orderly. To whom do you relate? - Release Completing the cycle of soul work means integration, endings, and release. Release calls for generativity as we give call away and begin the cycle anew. Release is a stage of rest and listening. Learning when to let go and when to hang on is the essence of release. What aspect of your present call is God asking you to release in order to live forward? I invite you to join me for an overview of the study from 10a-1p on Wednesday, November 7 at the MVP Mission Center. Cost will be $10 for lunch and materials. Please RSVP to Shauna@MVPJourney.org or call 330-339-5515. Together in Christ,
Debbie Rundlett, General Presbyter

Holy Habit: Heeding God's Call
This week take some time apart to ponder God's call to you. Read through the call narratives in the gospel. Reflect on the cycle of call above. Where do you find yourself in this season of your life? And then pray through the words of John Bell's hymn "The Summons" allowing them to become for you a means of recommitting yourself to God's call anew.
Will you come and follow me If I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know And never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown In you and you in me?
Will you leave yourself behind If I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind And never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer pray'r In you and you in me?
Will you let the blinded see If I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free And never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean, And do such as this unseen,
And admit to what I mean In you and you in me?
Will you love the 'you' you hide If I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found To reshape the world around,
Through my sight and touch and sound In you and you in me?
Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you And never be the same.
In your company I'll go Where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow In you and you in me.
- John Bell, The Iona Community

Formational Prayer Seminar...How we Can Change!
The Formational Prayer Seminar may appear to be a hefty title, but indeed it is four days of life changing experiences, learning to walk with Jesus and seek and obtain the glory, guidance, and reassurance of the Holy Spirit. In our first seminar, the very necessary process of forgiveness and putting wounds in perspective takes place with self-forgiveness, healing of old wounds, and short and long term hurts begin with one's self and extends to others. It is the beginning of a process and a journey!
Guided, led, and taught by Dr. Terry Wardle of Ashland Theological Seminary, who has a no holds barred, reveal all attitude about his own and shared experiences, we were guided to begin our own search and realities in a program of learning, combined with daily, meaningful worship. There could never be a kinder, more empathetic way through the hand of God!
Attending the second seminar proved to be an even stronger, more involved, self-reflective journey, led by Dr. Wardle, but further enriched by other leaders in their fields of expertise in different learning sessions. We were enriched in our journey, as we walked with Jesus daily, were led by the Holy Spirit, encouraged in daily study, daily prayer, and the use of many recommended resources. A further gift was the connections made with others making the journey, and coming from many different fields of work and areas of the country. We have been encouraged to "tell our story," and to "continue the journey." For those of us in this Presbytery with our theme of "Journeying with Jesus," these experiences are life changing helping us to make changes in our own lives to better help and encourage others to change theirs and continue the walk to enhance our own lives, other lives and the world. I believe for me, these seminars have been not only a large blessing, but a permanent life change in my personal and religious life, providing great direction and joy!

Prayer Requests/Updates
Please pray for Rev. Terry Timson of Roseville Presbyterian Church, for his medical issues.
Please pray for Craig Butler, Transitional Associate for Congregational Ministries at the Presbytery of West Virginia. He has stage one pancreatic cancer and is receiving chemotherapy every Thursday.
Please keep Carol Keil, parish elder of Ashland/Richland parish, in your prayers. An email sent earlier last week from her:
My 88 year old mother took a serious fall on Friday night and is in the ICU at Grant Hospital in Columbus. She has a fractured arm, eye socket, and cheekbone, but the real problem is her head injury. Originally we were told that she has brain damage due to a severe concussion. The second CT scan showed increased bleeding in the left hemisphere of her brain. They suggested immediate neurosurgery to relieve pressure, but warned that she would need to be placed in a nursing home with a ventilator and a feeding tube. We declined, as that is not how Mom would want to live. But, surprisingly, she was better today in spite of no surgery. So please pray for my mom as she continues to be hospitalized, for the wonderful staff at Grant as they care for her, and for my sister and me as we try to make the best decisions for our mother.
If you or someone you know has a prayer request,
