Got Wheels....Neighbors Need Drivers

Caregiver Companion is seeking drivers to take the elderly to various appointments. Flexible Schedule: 

You set your available hours and they will match you with a neighbor in need.Auto insurance and good driving record required. To learn more about Caregivers Companion, go to their volunteer page or email caregiver95@gmail.com or  (765) 423-1879. 

 

Coat Room Attendee

YWCA Salute to Women event is Tuesday, March 4 and they are in need of 3-4 volunteers to work in the coat room.  The event is at Purdue Memorial Union and volunteers are needed from 4:30pm-10pm. They can break into shifts.  If you would like to volunteer, sign up at their volunteer page or email Lisa at lgreen@ywcalafayette.org.

Are Horses Your Thing?

Therapeion Therapeutic Riding Center provides assisted equine programs for persons with disabilities, youth at risk, and disabled veterans.  Their spring session begins on March 11th.  They are seeking volunteers:
  • to work with special riders during class times; 
  • help staff  Brookston Tack & Feed store;
  • and several other opportunities are also available.

Food Pantry in Need 

Cans

St. John's/LUM Food Pantry is seeking 2 or 3 volunteers to help distribute food to those in need.

   

The Pantry is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 8:45 a.m., and typically are finished before noon.

Train to become a Crisis Volunteer

Crisis Center Training Schedule:

  • Wednesday, February 19 - (6 - 10pm)
  • Saturday, February 22 - (9am - 5:30pm)
  • Wednesday, February 26 - (6 - 10pm)
  • Saturday, March 1 - (9am - 1pm)
  • Wednesday, March 5 - (6 - 10pm)
  • Saturday, March 8 - (9am - 5:30pm)

Four times a year, the Crisis Center provides over 45

hours of intensive training to enable our volunteers to provide confidential, individualized service. Application and interviews have started!

Training is a great opportunity to help others in need, meet wonderful, caring people, and develop incredibly useful skills. Consider joining their dedicated team! For more detail, visit the LCC website, or contact Beth, beth@lafayettecrisiscenter.org or 765-742-0247.

 

100 Men Who Cook

Lafayette Family YMCA is seeking volunteers to help with a fundraiser on Saturday, March 1 from 5 - 10pm being held at the Purdue Memorial Union. Volunteers will:

  • carry in food from cars to ballroom;
  • clear plates and keep tables clean;   
  • general set up and clean up.
