What's New This Week?
Kindergarten Camp Volunteers  
United Way Kindergarten Countdown Camp at Klondike Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help prepare incoming preschoolers be ready for kindergarten. Camp will run from June 10th - 28th. For more information, contact Emily through the event on the volunteer website or email her at [email protected].   

Family Team Liaison

March of Dimes is seeking volunteers to work throughout the year in maintaining contact with family teams for the spring March for Babies and help in recruitment of new family teams for their walk event. The hours/volunteer time is very flexible and would be based on volunteer's convenience. Some things they are looking for are: 

  • calling family teams;
  • working at area health fairs;
  • maintain contact to existing family teams throughout the year;
  • help in recruiting new walk teams and participants.

Senior Activity Assistant

Hanna Community Center is seeking volunteers to work with their seniors. Volunteers would help in setting up activities such as:

  • knitting classes;
  • cooking classes;
  • Wellness & Nutrition classes   
  • day time field trip to area places.

Still Needed


Busy Season needs several volunteers

Wolf Park is looking for reliable volunteers for the summer months of May thru August to help support the daily operations. Volunteers needed to:

  • run the cash register in the gift shop;
  • greet guests;
  • crowd control;
  • and trained to give guided tours.

Requirements:

  • must be 18 years and older:
  • have reliable transportation;
  • be willing to walk around outside in the heat for extended periods;
  • attend a quarterly orientation;
  • commit a minimum of 12 hours a month.

Camp Counselor
Hanna Community Center is looking for students to volunteer to assist camp counselors throughout the summer. Bilingual is a plus. If interested, sign up on volunteer center opportunity or call Kim at 742-0191.
 
Keep it Clean 
Heartford House exists to empower the community to protect and advocate for the well-being of children and families.They are seeking a volunteer to come in once a week and help maintain a warm welcoming environment. That would include assisting with dusting, vacuuming, and sorting. Background checks are required. If interested, sign up on the volunteer center opportunity or call Jen at 420-9764.

Leaders of Tomorrow is a youth service-learning program to encourage young people between the ages of 11 to 15 and 16 to 18 to become involved and aware of citizens in the community through volunteering.

Food Finders Food Bank is eligible to win $25,000 grant from the One A Day Women's Nutrition Mission - with your help!

 

Feeding America� has again joined forces with Bayer HealthCare, the makers of One A Day Women's, and Sheryl Crow on the Nutrition Mission, a charitable initiative to help fight food insecurity. And this year, the Nutrition Mission wants to celebrate and honor the great work of volunteers who are on their own Nutrition Mission! Volunteers just like you!

 

Share your story about the great work being done to fight hunger in the community at www.NutritionMission.com and you'll be entered for a chance to be selected for one of four $25,000 grants to be awarded by One A Day Women's to the Feeding America food bank of your choice. The deadline for entries is July 1, 2013. Winners will be announced in September during Hunger Action Month™ with one winner being selected to meet Sheryl Crow in New York to help further raise awareness. Who knows? It could be you!
