Pillowcases made from napkins picked up in Paris were great inspiration | Jane is a delightful woman who is full of life. Years ago we took inspiration for her home from a napkin she picked up in Paris and created pillows for her room. Jane was bold enough to try those colors on her walls and with the selection of furniture. The colors made her happy, I knew she would love it. And love it she did. Ten years later, her home suffered some water damage and the day came when she needed to repaint her walls. I returned to her home with my architectural bag of paints to take a look. And you know what - we decided to keep it the same. |
I cannot help but smile when I walk into her home. It is full of energy and warmth, just like Jane. Make your home a reflection of who you are. Maybe you would prefer your home to be relaxing with just a hint of color and not a splash. Bold colors aren't for everyone, neutrals are beautiful, too. Personality is what makes life more interesting. Great design is a necessity not a luxury. Start with the right colors and watch what happens. |
| Designer Secrets Color does not need to stop on a wall. In Jane's house, we continued the color up and over the vaulted ceiling. Your eye stops where the color stops so it only makes sense to paint the angled walls as well. Don't forget about the flat ceilings, either. Color there can add a lot - we call the ceiling the fifth wall. More on that next month. |
