Greetings!

For many people the living room is just a place to walk by on the way to the other areas of their home. Bonnie and Steve were looking to finish this room for their son's Bar Mitzvah. They had purchased a sofa that they liked and even a rug to go with it. Yet it just didn't feel like a place to spend much time. The morning sun coming in this room was good for coffee by the window and a great place for the dogs to watch the neighborhood. Our challenge was to make this a room that not only looked good for visitors who came to the front door but a room that drew them in and kept them there.

Window treatments not only soften the wall, they also absorb sound. With the addition of window treatments we were able to add texture using fabric and roller shades (Yes, you heard me right, Roller Shades! They have come a long way since the years of stark white vinyl coverings!). Roller Shades provide sun protection and an attractive, cost effective privacy solution. The wall above the sofa provided the perfect opportunity to add color and life to this room using artwork, like these contemporary wall panels.

Too often the living room has uncomfortable seating and very little of it. Three new chairs provided a place for pattern. We made sure that these weren't only stylish chairs but that they were comfortable too. We recovered the dogs' bench in a funky vinyl that was durable and attractive, and moved it in front of the window so that they could have a better view. When company comes, the dogs can move and now 7 or 8 people can find room to sit and talk.

We finished this living room with some great lamps, a new coffee table and just a few accessories. Now, the whole family can LIVE here. Every room of your home should add a smile to your face.
