EQUIP THE COMMUNITY
FACILITATE THE PROCESS
DELIVER THE RESULTS
Dear Friends of Sustainable Long Island,

It may be hard to do, but can you imagine a Long Island filled with thriving downtowns and buoyed by a vibrant economy? Envision a Long Island where we didn't have to worry about clean land, water, and air and instead simply enjoyed the benefits of a healthy, safe environment. What about communities throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties having access to healthy, affordable food and efficiently-run modes of public transportation?

It all sounds like an ideal Long Island - where residents across the region work together toward a more sustainable lifestyle. Sadly, as we all know too well, things are often easier said than done.

But what if we could do something to bring about change, regardless of how big or small? What if you could be part of the change you've always wanted to see across the region?

BE PART OF THE CHANGE

That's where Sustainable Long Island's commitment to improving the lives of Long Islanders in economically, environmentally-friendly, and equitable ways comes into focus. We are particularly excited for 2015, as we plan to move full-steam ahead on a host of projects and programs, aiming to bring about that ideal Long Island we so desperately seek.

It has always been one of our main goals to empower stakeholders in community planning efforts and create the next generation of sustainability leaders. We now call on you, those leaders, for support by donating to Sustainable Long Island.

This year, each donation we receive - up to $15,000 - will be generously matched by The New York Community Trust - Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund. This is your chance to double your donation and guide sustainable projects throughout the course of the coming year; bringing about real, concrete outcomes.

 LOOKING BACK

Last year, your contribution helped engage over 2,550 residents and business owners throughout the City of Long Beach during the rebuilding process of the 2.2 mile iconic boardwalk.

Previously, your support helped offer over 4,000 pounds of fresh produce to 10,000+ Long Islanders through local farmers' markets across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

 MOVING FORWARD

In the coming months, your donation of $100 will help plant nearly 5,000 seeds in three community gardens, feeding over 300 residents of Central Islip, New Cassel, and Roosevelt to grow and enjoy.

This year, your donation of $250 will impact the construction of the $500 million revitalization project known as "Wyandanch Rising," as the development of five-story mixed-use buildings with 177 apartments and 5,000 square feet of potential retail space comes to fruition.

In 2015, your donation of $500 will go toward employing and teaching valuable business skills, tools, and basics of community building and agriculture to over 50 young adults in Roosevelt, Bellport, Flanders, New Cassel, Freeport, Wyandanch, and Great Neck.

RETHINK. REBUILD. RENEW.

Every donation, regardless of level, helps foster vibrant economies, promote healthy environments, and create equal opportunities for all Long Islanders. Your gift is not limited to the examples detailed above. And giving to Sustainable Long Island has never been easier. A donation of any amount is appreciated and can be processed securely at www.sustainableli.org.

To maximize your tax benefits, please consider making your contribution by December 31. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season and thank you for your continued support.

Warmest regards,

- The Staff and Board of Sustainable Long Island
