Faculty/Alumna Featured in Major Drawing Exhibit at NY's Morgan Library
Work by Adjunct Associate Professor and alumna Christine Hiebert BFA '82 (Graphic Design) is included in the "Embracing Modernism: Ten Years of Drawings Acquisitions" exhibition on display through May 24 at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. Hiebert's drawings are included with more than 100 created between 1900 and 2013 by artists from Matisse, Mondrian and Schiele, to Pollock, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Twombly and - more recently - Kippenberger and Dumas. The show proposes a reflection on 20th-century drawing, looking notably at the characteristics that define its modernity in relation to the historical tradition. Hiebert's work is also featured in the group exhibit "Selections from Amsterdam Drawing" at Gallery Joe in Philadelphia, March 6 - April 25. A First Friday reception is scheduled for March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Alumni, Friends Gather at World Café Live for Stanley Clarke '71 Concert
Alumni and friends of UArts converged on World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington, Del., on February 23 to hear fellow alumnus and four-time Grammy winner Stanley Clarke '71 (Double Bass). Clarke, who received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in 2008, is quite possibly the most celebrated acoustic and electric bassist in the world. As a performer, composer, conductor, arranger, recording artist, producer and film scorer known for his ferocious dexterity and consummate musicality, Clarke is a true pioneer in jazz and of the bass itself. Unquestionably, he is a "living legend," lauded with every conceivable award available to a musician in his over 40-year career as a bass virtuoso.
