Art Unleashed Kicks Off April 10 with Preview Party
Join us for Art Unleashed, the University's largest fundraiser, which kicks off on Wednesday, April 10 with a preview party from 5 to 8 p.m. in Hamilton Hall. This extraordinary event helps raise money to support the Sam S. McKeel Promising Young Artists Scholarship Fund, with an exhibition and sale of artwork in all media from talented UArts students, faculty and alumni. The Alumni Spotlight Gallery will showcase renowned glass artist Dan Dailey BFA '69 (Crafts) and award-winning illustrator Jerry Pinkney DIPL '60 (Advertising Design).

 Susan Snyder, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Pulitzer Prize-winning education writer, recently wrote about the University's innovative new approach to arts and design education on her "Campus Inq" blog. The March 19 post features UArts President Sean T. Alumna Takes 'Creative Reuse' to a Whole New Level
As a scenic painter for film and theater, Karyn Gerred BFA '89 (Painting) [right] saw a need to reuse the temporary set materials that were being discarded and ending up in landfills. Her answer was to create the Resource Exchange, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit creative reuse center she founded in 2009 to spur more sustainable practices within the local arts and entertainment industries.

Spring Issue of UArts' Literary Magazine 'Underground Pool' Released
 The Spring 2013 issue of Underground Pool, the University of the Arts' student literary magazine, has been released. Published each spring by the Liberal Arts Division, the third issue includes poems, stories, illustrations, photography, painting and more from students in a wide range of majors across UArts. This year's issue also features a new collaboration between student writers and visual artists: each of the seven short stories in the magazine was illustrated by a student majoring in Illustration. Underground Pool is headed by Assistant Professor Elise Juska, director of the University's new Creative Writing program. View Issue Three >>
