 The BIG news this month is our purchase of a new, highly accurate method of measuring body composition.  

 

Not only will we be able to read and track
total body fat percentage and lean mass, but also intra and extra cellular water levels, dry lean muscle mass, visceral fat (the unhealthy stuff around organs), muscle mass on each arm, leg and trunk as well as fat mass on each arm, leg and trunk.

 

  This additional information will have many benefits for more serious athletes, people that want to monitor exactly what they are losing, people who have sustained injuries, weight loss competitors, body builders, and people with certain diseases.  Our team will be trained in implementing this technology. The additional information will allow us to help you determine your future training and nutritional strategies, and you can monitor the results in a highly accurate way. 

 

The Lean Body fat measurements will be within 2% of a Dexa Scan (typical cost is hundreds of dollars) which is considered the gold standard but is very expensive and will subject the customer to radiation. Our machine will not have any detrimental effects.  

 

 

 FAT FREE MASS WITHIN 2% OF A DEXA SCAN

This unit will also measure anyone from 5 years old to 99 years old.  It doesn't rely on distribution curves and assumptions to do the calculations so that bias will not be introduced into the measurement.

STUDY:  KEY POINTS

  • Dietary protein ingestion immediately after exercise increases muscle protein synthesis rates during the acute stages of post-exercise recovery.

  • Muscle protein synthesis rates are low during overnight sleep even when dietary protein is ingested after exercise.

  • If dietary protein is made available to the intestine during sleep, protein is normally digested and absorbed thereby increasing plasma amino acid

    availability and increasing muscle protein synthesis rates.

  • Dietary protein ingested prior to sleep is effectively digested and absorbed during the night, thereby increasing plasma amino acid availability and stimulating post-exercise muscle protein accretion during overnight sleep.

* Ingestion of dietary protein prior to sleep may represent an effective dietary strategy to facilitate the skeletal muscle adaptive response to exercise training and to further improve exercise training efficiency.

Protein is not just for weight training athletes. This study indicates that a higher protein intake for endurance athletes could help reduce illness.  Max Muscle proteins also have the additional benefit of being non-denatured. That means the immunity factors contained naturally in protein are intact.  The low heat process is important when making protein. Most don't do this.
