Did you know that God will not do anything
in the earth if His church doesn't pray?

In fact, every action that will be taken by God in the earth requires a praying church. The primary assignment of the church is "Prayer." As a matter of fact, in 2 Chronicles 7, we have a great example of a believer's responsibility when Solomon finished building the temple for the Lord, as they began to worship, there was a manifestation of God's presence. God gave instructions to the people that, if acted upon, would bring forgiveness and healing to their land. Verse 14 says, "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." God will intervene in the affairs of men if we, as the church, fulfill our responsibility to pray and seek His face.

In Matthew 21:13, Jesus described the house of God as a house of prayer. We need to stay focused on seeking God. With all the problems we are facing in our society today, the church has a responsibility to use the power that is available through prayer to bring about changes in our world.

2 Chronicles 16:9 in the Message Bible says, "God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to Him. You were foolish to go for human help when you could have had God's help..." God wants to help us, but we need to acknowledge that we need His help with a consistent prayer life.

Remember:  Spiritual Success begins on Sunday Morning!

Prayer is not an option for a believer. It is a necessity. We need oxygen to breathe and we need prayer to sustain our walk with God. When we pray, we are giving God the legal right and permission to intervene in earth's affairs. Why is that? God has given the earth to men and we are responsible for what happens on the earth. In Matthew 16:19, Jesus reveals that responsibility. Whatever we bind on earth or declare to be unlawful on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever we loose or declare to be lawful on earth, must be what is already loosed in heaven. In other words, we as believers have at our disposal, supernatural intervention that can change things.

THE POWER OF AGREEMENT: Agreement in prayer is one way believers can exercise their legal authority to invoke heaven's influence in the earth.

For real change to happen in our society, we as believers have to get connected with the rule of engagement. Prayer is what we use to engage with God, to get His attention. Jesus was our example of this when he walked in this earth. Everything that Jesus demonstrated on the earth was a result of His prayer life. Jesus didn't go from one place of miracles to another place of miracles. He went from one place of prayer to another place of prayer, and in between He worked miracles.

Jesus' success revolved around His prayer life. We find this in the four Gospels.
  • Jesus was praying in a certain place.
  • Jesus was off praying by himself.
  • While Jesus was praying the heavens opened.
  • When Jesus was finished praying, he went.
The most awesome power a believer possesses
is the power to influence others through prayer.

James 5:16 in the Amplified Bible speaks of the power that is available to an individual who prays. "The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]." PRAYER ACTIVATES THE POWER OF GOD.

REMEMBER: Prayer flows out of our relationship with God and His Word. If we are going to have a life of prayer, it should embody the truths and principles that God has given us in his Word.

The glory of God is not manifesting because we are not tapping into what Jesus prayed for us over 2,000 years ago. John 17 is Jesus' intercessory prayer to God for us. John 17:20-21 says, "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one...that the world may believe that You sent Me." Why isn't the world believing? Could it be based on the absence of a praying Church? Remember what Jesus said about His Church. The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

TRUE PRAYER WILL DO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Build intimacy with God.
  • Bring honor to His character.
  • Cause us to respect His integrity.
  • Cause us to affirm His purpose and His will in our lives.
  • Cause us activate His promises.

We need to get back to the place where we reverence God enough to give ourselves to the kind of prayer that gives God the legal right and permission to intervene in earth's affairs.
