From: Dr. Phyllis Blair Milton,
Synodical Minister for Faith Formation
During our Conference Gatherings, I have had the privilege to introduce myself to many of our Virginia Synod congregations. Our Conference theme has been "mission". My presentation has centered on how I believe God forms us for mission through the practice of spiritual disciplines, "so we might be attentive to God's presence and to discerning God's will and engaging God's world" (Bishop Hanson, The Lutheran, February 2004).
God can also use other avenues to form us for mission, such as participating in the various opportunities offered through ACTS, Roots &Wings and Christian Formation.

From Bishop Mauney
"last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them-though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe." I Cor 15:8-11

Much of the Youth Assembly will consist of the youth and staff joining the Main Assembly for presentations from Assembly guests and engaging in faith discussion with adults there.

From Ellen Hinlicky, Director
Lutheran Partners in Mission
During the past several months I have been travelling with what I think of as the "Bishop's Road Show" for Virginia Synod conference meetings with pastors and church leaders. At these events I offer a presentation called "Ten Things Every Pastor and Church Leader Should Know about Fundraising."
One of the Ten Things that draws the most interest, I've found, encourages churches to offer online giving options Read on...
