Updates from the Journey  - February 2013

"Is Nann eating her salmon, as promised?"
"What does the Mayor consider essential for a healthy life?"
"How does Dr. Bob practice what he preaches? And just what DOES he preach?"

Greetings!,
We are devoting the first leg of the Journey to Better Health to the wonderful partnerships that make this community healthier.  Why, just ask for healthy salmon recipes and you shall receive an outpouring of support. I'm trying out all the recipes you sent me on Facebook and I'm feeling fitter already.

Are you looking for inspiration for your journey?  Then I hope you'll join me on March 6th to hear Dr. Mark Hyman's free presentation. Several of our favorite local nonprofit partners found his words so compelling, we decided he could help us all Jump On.

Dr. Hyman said recently, "I am delighted to be visiting Park City and offer a different perspective on how we can all stay healthy for life. Most people don't realize how quickly they can change their biology with their food, and that food is not just calories, it's information. Food is the most powerful drug available to us in the 21st century to treat disease."

Intrigued? Read more, then join us at Temple Har Shalom - March 6th - 7 p.m.

What does it take to change the course of
 chronic disease?

For many people, a change in how they eat every day can make a big impact.
Here Dr. Bob Pellegrine, our Medical Director, offers us the lifestyle tips he encourages his patients to adopt.
In this video, he talks about how these changes worked wonders for one patient.
Dr. Bob's Diet, er, Lifestyle Plan

1. Eat 3 meals a day.
2. Eat only at mealtime.
3. Fill your plate once.
4. Don't eat until you're full.
It takes your brain time to catch up to your mouth.
