Summer Fun on a Budget

Many of us are living on a budget. When a weekend getaway to the beach seems out of reach don't forget to take advantage of Trinity Center!

Don't forget about the inexpensive and free fun! Take a look at this list from Apartment Therapy called "Classic Summer Fun on a Budget" and see how many you can implement during the dog days of summer! (Many of these are geared towards those with smaller kids, but most can be enjoyed by all!)

1. Splash in some water- (the author talks about having a kiddie pool for her small children but cutting on a sprinkler and laying in the lawn chairs sounds just as fun!)
2. Go fishing - even if you don't have all of the equipment, tie a piece of string to a stick or grab a net and head down to the creek - guaranteed your kids will still have the time of their lives.
3. Fly a kite.
4. Sleep under the stars - cozy up together in a big pile of blankets and pillows and watch the stars come out at night one by one.
5. Catch fireflies!
6. Go on a picnic - a big blanket and some paper bags full of goodies are all you really need.
7. Visit the zoo - or if that's too pricey in your area, visit a local farm or feed the ducks at the pond.
8. Pick berries.
9. Go on a hike - tell stories, sing songs, and enjoy nature.
10. Go cloud gazing - choose one of those days with a clear blue sky and puffy white clouds, spread out a big blanket, and dream away.

St. Francis Goldsboro: 50 Years of Faith

St. Francis Church in Goldsboro is planning a number of events of remembrance and celebration on the occasion of their fiftieth year of ministry. They'd like to be in touch with former parishioners and friends. If you previously attended St. Francis would you send postal and email addresses to parish@stfrancisgoldsboro.org? It is particularly hard to locate former military members and this group has meant so much in the life of this church. If anyone has any contact information for them, please let St, Francis know!

The first scheduled event is a "60s-Themed Pig-Pickin'" on Saturday, July 19, at 5:00pm. Please RSVP to the above email as soon as possible. There will be further information forthcoming, via this newsletter, St. Francis Episcopal Church website and Facebook.
