Small Parish Resource

Have a small parish? No full time priest present? Depend on lay readers for Sunday sermons? We have a resource for you.
Sermons That Work is a website from The Episcopal Church and Episcopal Digital Network that provides sermons, selected for their use to a wide variety of small congregations without full-time priests on staff, where lay leaders often shoulder the responsibility of delivering the sermons on Sunday. There are new sermons each week for Sundays and major feast days throughout the liturgical year. Please visit Sermons That Work today. The link has also been added as a resource on the Diocesan Website, under Spirituality and Worship ---> Other Worship Resources.
A Message from Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) about Hurricane Season

ERD Parish Representatives:
As you are aware, 2014 Hurricane Season officially kicked off June 1st. This is an excellent time to remind the senior warden of the importance of reviewing the parish emergency/disaster plans.
Please emphasize ERD's response during local disasters will depend upon local parishes' ability to assess and report their needs to the Diocesan Disaster Coordinator promptly.
Additionally, the plan should reflect how individual parishes can be of assistance to other parishes during such emergencies.
Please contact Jimi Paderick, Diocesan Disaster Coordinator  at 252-522-0885 If your parish need assistance to create or further develop your Parish's disaster plan.

Millineum Development Goals (MDG) Makes a
Difference for Guyana Village

The Diocesan MDG committee desginated $1000 for Mothers Union Parenting Programme. MUPP trains local facilitators to deliver an 8-12 week course with community groups. These parenting groups then meet in depressed rural communities where they offer support to parents, caregivers and victims and survivors of domestic violence. The funds were given to a small village in Guyana to help provide better meals and cleaner water to its people. Please click on the picture below to view the slideshow or visit the Diocesan Website.
