Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina

The Diocese of East Carolina welcomes Adam Pierce, the new UNC at Wilmington Campus Minister. Adam grew up in Pennsylvania with three siblings, a twin brother and two older sisters.  He attended college in St. Augustine, Florida at Flagler College where he studied Philosophy and Religion and minored in History.

Adam volunteered extensively in the St. Augustine community as well as through Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Upon graduating from Flagler College, Adam and his wife, Laurie, joined the Peace Corps and volunteered for two years in China teaching English to university students in the city of Guiyang in Guizhou Province. During his time in the Peace Corps, Adam was selected by his peers to serve in a peer counseling group.  Adam also created a cooking club for his students who were interested in learning how to cook western food. Through the cooking club, Adam was able to teach food safety as well as learn how to cook many Chinese dishes.

Adam and Laurie currently live in Wilmington.  Laurie works at Anderson Elementary and volunteers with First Friday Dinners provided by Church of the Servant.  Adam works part time at Dixie Grill as well as volunteers with Interfaith Refugee Ministry providing a family with English and cultural training.

Adam begins his ministry on November 1.
