Relief and Development

From now until December 6, 2013, any donations, up to $500,000.00, made to the Episcopal Relief & Development fund will be matched to the Global Needs Fund.  Gifts to the Global Needs Fund enables Episcopal Relief and Development  to meet needs where they are greatest.  Because of your gifts, Episcopal Relief and Development is able to fight poverty and disease and respond to disasters quickly--anywhere in the world.  Your donations help people live healthier, safer and more productive lives.  All Episcopal Relief & Development programs and core focus areas work to achieve one or more Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including fighting extreme poverty and hunger, promoting the empowerment of women and combating preventive diseases.

Our Deanery met on Thursday, October 17th at St. Peter's, Sunbury. We discussed our future calendar and how we will help each other in events in our parishes. On Nov. 17th, Christ Church, Elizabeth City will offer a Stop Hunger Now event that the parishes of the Albemarle Deanery will support both financially and with people power. We see the Deanery role as supporting each other in our ministries. We also have set our Pre-Convention Meeting on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00am at Christ Church, Elizabeth City. We set up our Walk About site for the candidates for Bishop in late April. The Acolyte Festival is coming up in March and we discussed how we can help St. Andrews-By-The-Sea with that great event. -Submitted by The Very Rev. John Bonner, III
