Last week, I spent three days in Menlo Park, CA attending the annual Informatica Analyst Conference. Not only was the break from New England's blustery winter good for the soul, but there's something rejuvenating about a well-run conference. Things such as sharing ideas with colleagues, brainstorming, reflecting on keynotes, and enjoying meals with colleagues are unique experiences that are difficult to recreate through webinars, tweets or emails -- yet to me, they're intrinsic to growth. No matter how far technology takes us, when it comes to building solid relationships, there's no substitution for face-to-face contact.
To that end, I wanted to let you know of two upcoming conferences that may be of interest to you or your organization.
First up is the Gartner MDM Summit March 20-22 in Grapevine, TX. If you have yet to register, you can do so here, using a complimentary code which will net you a $300 discount.
On Thursday, March 21, I will be presenting on behalf of Stibo Systems from 9:15-10:15 am in Texas Ballroom D. If you'll be at the conference and want to connect or have specific topics you'd like to see covered, please send an email to info@hubdesigns.com or tweet me at Hub Designs.
In April, the next leg of the "Dan Power MDM tour" takes me to Denver for the annual Oracle Applications Users Group COLLABORATE Conference. As a member of the Education Committee, my responsibilities include programming the Master Data Management track at the conference. On Wednesday April 10, along with colleague Mani Kumar Manda of Rhapsody Technologies, we'll be taking part in Session #12536, the Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Governance Q&A Panel (Room 708).
This session is an open panel discussion forum with focus on the process, architecture/framework, best practices, data quality, data governance and technologies associated with MDM applications from Oracle such as EBS Hubs (CDH, Supplier Hub, Product Hub, Site Hub), Fusion Hubs (Customer and Product Hub), Siebel UCM, and Hyperion DRM.
The objectives of the panel are to:
- To discuss hot topics and issues related to MDM, Data Quality and Data Governance.
- To provide a common forum for users and consultants to promote dialogue and networking.
- To enable discussion between users and Oracle representatives for MDM Hubs.
- To discuss future directions of Oracle for MDM Hubs.
If you'll be attending and have questions for the panel, please submit them to me prior to the conference either via email to info@hubdesigns.com or tweet me at Hub Designs and I'll make sure to include your questions.

As a follow up to the Informatica conference last week, we ran an insightful piece on Informatica MDM's product lineup and strategy for 2013. To read the article, visit Hub Designs Magazine.
Hope to see some of you 'live' at one of the upcoming conferences!
Followers & Feedback: it's a good combo. If you follow Dan Power on Twitter, don't forget to follow @Hub Designs also, for all things MDM and more. Want to submit an article for publication? Please see our author guidelines.
