Thousands of families have been displaced by the war in Syria. Instead of a safe, warm home, children find themselves in refugee camps in strange countries where they might not know the language, and Mom and Dad can't afford food, clean water or schooling. More than 2.6 million Syrian children have lost the opportunity of an education --- some having already missed over four years of school.
Safe from our living rooms here in America, 7000 miles away from Syria, it can be difficult to see how we can make a difference, and how to help our children understand our responsibility as believers to care for those less fortunate than ourselves. However, Adventures in Odyssey's Clubhouse Magazine is giving kids right here at home the chance to make a real difference in the lives of these Syrian children through the Exercise to Educate summer challenge.
With Exercise to Educate, kids have a fun, healthy way to raise money to help pay for uniforms, schooling costs and English lessons for Syrian refugee children.
Participation in the challenge is easy. Simply print a
sponsor sheet here, and kids can ask their friends and family to sponsor them as they exercise for points. You can choose how long you participate --- it can be a week or two, or the whole summer. The more kids exercise, the more points they earn, and the more money they raise to help Syrian children learn English and go to school.
Participants who
share their progress by August 31st will receive a digital bundle from Adventures in Odyssey and Focus on the Family which includes a free Adventures in Odyssey episode from Album #51, a copy of the
101 Surefire Ways to Strengthen Your Child's Faith eBook, and the audio book of
Imagination Station #1, "Voyage with the Vikings."
Don't miss this incredible opportunity to get your kids involved in global service. Christi Lynn, Director of Kids and Culture Ministry and Market Strategy at Focus on the Family, is available for interviews to talk about this remarkable summer challenge.
