Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,

Today marks a momentous day in United States history. As Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States in Washington D.C., the Islamic Center recommits itself to protecting the marginalized and defending justice.

Join us at jumma'a today as our interfaith friends from the Guibord Center and St. John's Cathedral stand in solidarity with Muslim Angelenos and denounce divisive political rhetoric. Following prayers, we will make signs for the Women's March taking place on Saturday (Jan. 21). The Women's March was organized as a first step towards protecting human rights, safety, health and families. All men, women, and children are welcome to attend. For more information on how to participate, please visit Women's March - Los Angeles or Women's March - Pasadena.

The Islamic Center is also proud to host a special event for our sisters this weekend. On Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m., we are teaming up with 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu to host a Women's Self-Defense Workshop (18 years +). In this introductory session, women will learn about avoidance tactics and learn a few basic jiu jitsu style self-defense moves.

We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones this weekend.

In peace,
Islamic Center of Southern California

Sacred Resistance & Sanctuary Press Conference
Rabbi Neil Comess Daniels (Temple Beth Shir Shalom), Salam Al-Marayati (President of MPAC), Rev. Mike Kinman (All Saints Church Pasadena)

This week, the Islamic Center hosted a press conference alongside Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) and more than a dozen of our interfaith allies to make a public commitment of sacred resistance and sanctuary for people targeted by hateful, divisive rhetoric. The spiritual communities present pledged to embody faithful resistance to ensure the dignity and human rights of all people. Rabbi Jonathan Klein (Executive Director of CLUE) said, "Now is the time for timidity, we must temper the tide of xenophobia that taunts all people of conscience."
Prayer Timesprayers
We are open for prayers five times a day, every day. The iqama (announcement for prayer) is ten minutes after the Call to Prayer (athan). You can find prayer times on our website.
