Jan. 13, 2017
Assalamu Alaikum
Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,
The momentum continues at the Islamic Center after a busy opening weekend of 2017! Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we continue our Highlights of the Qur'an series, with Dr. Najeeba Syeed, who will share "Stories of Prophetic Hope and Resilience." Parents Circle will meet at 11 a.m. and dive into their new discussion guide, "Positive Parenting in the Muslim Home," followed by part 2 of Hassan Zeenni's lecture series, "Rethinking our Understanding of Islam."
Also, please mark your calendars today for two special events next week. On Friday, Jan. 20, our interfaith friends will join us once more on the steps of ICSC to voice their solidarity, then they'll join us after jumma'a for a Sign-Making Party for the next day's L.A. Women's March. Then, on Sunday, Jan. 22, ICSC will host a Women's Self-Defense Workshop. Scroll down for more details.
We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones this weekend.
In peace,
Islamic Center of Southern California
P.S. STAY INFORMED. Please forward this newsletter to your friends so they can join our mailing list.

On Jan. 10, Islamic Center Administrator Kenan Kapetanovic attended a Clergy Advisory Group roundtable with Los Angeles City Attorney Michael Feuer. This meeting was an opportunity to engage in an open and constructive dialogue about local community issues such as hate crime prosecutions, city resources and potential collaboration opportunities. Mr. Feuer, who has visited ICSC on multiple occasions, also stressed that the City Attorney's office serves as a "problem solving center" which is invested in serving as a resource to faith based organizations that work daily to improve the lives of all Angelenos.
