Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,

Last month, our friends from the Guibord Center and St. John's Episcopal Cathedral gathered on our front steps with messages of solidarity and appreciation for our community in the wake of election results and recent threats received by the Center.

Please join us tomorrow night on Christmas Eve, as we reciprocate the love with our #MerryChristmasLoveMuslims campaign at St. John's Cathedral near USC, Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Koreatown and All Saints Church in Pasadena. Click here for more details.

Sunday Programs are on vacation and will resume on Jan. 8. Until then, we hope you enjoy the video of Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl's special lecture last week on "The Future of Muslims in a Trumpian America" also included below.

We hope to see you and your loved ones sharing the holiday spirit with our friends this weekend.

In peace,
Islamic Center of Southern California

P.S. STAY INFORMED.  Please forward this newsletter to your friends so they can join our mailing list.

Tariq Aquil - "What Time is it?"

Watch our Last Sunday Programvideo
"The Future of Muslims in a Trumpian World"
By Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl

Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl, chair of the Islamic Studies Interdepartmental Program and the Omar and Azmeralda Alfi Distinguished Professor in Islamic Law at UCLA, gave a special lecture during our last Sunday Program where he explored the implications of the election of Donald Trump for our community and our country. Now you can watch the video online and share it with your network...

Dr. Abou El Fadl said , " And those who study history can study human patterns of behavior. We human beings often think that we live in unique moments in our existence. We think what we confront is unlike any other, that our lives are unique manifestations. But in reality it's remarkable how , as human beings, we often respond in the same ways, we repeat the same mistakes, we achieve the same victories and celebrate these victories over and over again. In many ways, history demonstrates how tedious human beings are both in their failures and successes."
