2016 ICSC Chairwoman

I am humbled, blessed and honored to have been elected to serve as the Chairperson of ICSC for this coming year. I call on every community member to take ownership of our beloved center - volunteer with a committee of your choice, attend activities at the center, make financial contributions, and join the effort to ensure that our center's future is bright and inspiring. I plan to follow an open door policy, and encourage you to share your thoughts and feedback by sending an e-mail to [email protected]

"Why I Love JYG"
by Wafaa Merzougui

Wafaa Merzougui (11 years old)
This is my first year in JYG. I'm eleven years old and I have been coming to the ICSC for as long as I can remember. I really enjoy being a part of the Muslim community. I used to come here during Ramadan when I was younger - I stayed with the babysitter and we would watch movies and play games. Then, when I was four years old, I started Sunday School where I made many new friends and learned a lot about our religion. After I graduated from Sunday School, I joined JYG. Our Islamic Studies teacher is Ms. Maryam and our Arabic and Qur'an teacher is Ms. Hinda. They're amazing teachers! JYG is different than Sunday School because now we have more conversations and get to share our opinions about the topics we discuss. We also have presentations from leaders in the community. I am really looking forward to my next two years in JYG.

My favorite part of the 2016 MYG Ski Trip was...

Lionel Joge
"It gave me the opportunity to relax and think about my choices in life. Just sitting in silence, feeling the wind, hearing the birds, looking at the mountains, and reflecting on some of the dawahs that led me to Islam. I thought, 'wow, you just can't deny the beauty of this creation.' I started tearing up too. Not in a bad way, in a good way."
