"Hitting the Streets"
by Jameel Mamdani

"When I give food to the homeless they have that look of gratitude and shock. I think they are surprised that anyone would care about them since they are homeless and live on the street. My mom and her friend, Tanveer, have organized for the Food Pantry to get KFC lunches. They get them at a discounted price.  Then, after the Food Pantry, we go and give it out to the homeless.  When I gave a lunch to a homeless person he lit up with joy. When you have so little, a small kind deed is all that takes to make you happy.  One time, I saw a homeless person share his meal with someone who didn't get there in time to get a meal. I was shocked to see that he shared his meal with someone else.  I feel like everyone has a place in this world, and whether you choose to do something good or bad, I feel like I did something good by helping those people."

Muslim Youth Group (MYG:)MYG

MYG meets every Sunday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Youth Room

What have we been up to?
Last weekend, a few of our youth went to Agape to do a short presentation on Islam.  Agape is a Spiritual Center in Culver City that practices the New Thought-Ancient Wisdom tradition of Spirituality.  Our MYG has an ongoing interfaith dialogue with the youth from this center and has plans to do another joint event in March.  Stay tuned.
