Words With Friends
by Karen Karsten
I love this time of year, hectic as it is. One of the things I love the most is making a point of seeing friends and catching up with what is going on in their lives. Facebook kind of keeps you up, but it's not the same as having words with friends over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Having friends is one of the very best things you can do for yourself--it keeps you healthier and isn't that a big part of your prosperity?
Friends not only help you celebrate triumphs and offer a shoulder to cry on during bad times. (although those are great perks), they actually do make you healthier. According to no less than the Mayo Clinic, friends can also:
-
Increase your sense of belonging and purpose -
Boost your happiness -
Reduce stress -
Improve your self-worth -
Help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job loss or the death of a loved one -
Encourage you to change or avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits
Keeping friendships strong takes some time, but it is time well-spent for the rich rewards it brings to your life.
Now I know there is another item called Words with Friends. If you aren't playing it on your smart phone or tablet, give it a try. Here's a small gift for you from Rich Chicks--a little primer on Words With Friends to download.
Happy holidays, Karen |
