Executive Director's Corner

We have recently had an interesting development in the Florence area. Two of our newer churches, the New Life Baptist Church and the Family of God Baptist Church, decided to merge. Bro. Jason Bruff, the New Life pastor, came up with the idea that a pastor who lives in the Florence area could be more effective in ministering at New Life. After conversations with Bro. Scotty Smith, it was decided that a merger of the two churches was the best solution to the situation. So now we have the New Life Baptist Church pastored by Bro. Scotty Smith, and the Family of God Baptist Church no longer exists. The combined congregations are off to a great start. Please join me in praying for God's blessings on this fine congregation.
The Association just hired Bro. Floyd Steverson as Facilities Manager for the Association. He will begin his new job in January. He will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds. He will also assist with computer issues in the office when needed. Bro. Floyd already had an office here as our latest church planter, so we have seen first hand what an asset he can be to us.

Crossroads Counseling
Most people will begin 2016 by making resolutions about how to better themselves and their lives-not a bad thing to do. Yet, before you try changing who you are, start owning all your weaknesses, failures, scars, and wounds before a Savior that loves you unconditionally. As scary as that may be, there is no growing in godliness without owning the shackles that limit us. Lay them at his feet. It's okay, precious child, to not be okay. He knows. Our Jesus waits to accept all that you bring. He will not condemn your shortcomings in 2016. "Come as you are......"

CPC Training
Dear friends,
We are in daily contact with one of the largest "people-groups" in America. Statistics indicate one out of three women will have experienced abortion before the age of forty-five. Add to this the fathers, grandparents, and friends affected by the decision. The numbers are staggering. Abortion grief is one of the most misunderstood dynamics we might encounter. Many do not self-disclose a past choice decision. This unprocessed grief could contribute to other emotional, spiritual and relational issues. New research is emerging that reveals how to meet the specific and specialized needs of this group.
Trudy Johnson, LMFT, founder of MissingPieces.Org, will share from her years of experience working in the area of abortion recovery with professionals.
Please mark Friday, January 22, 2016 as an in-service training for yourself and your staff. Additionally, 6 CEUs may be available to professional therapists.
Registration opens on December 28, 2015. Please CLICK HERE to find out more information on this great opportunity.
Serving Him with gladness,
Barbara Beavers

Graduations
It was a night of Celebration for participants, families and friends. "All families need a stable foundation" was the theme for the Hands UP Outreach (CWJC & CMJC) Graduation/Celebration at FBC Richland. Dr. Tammy Anderson, MBCB Missions Consultant, was the speaker for the event. Six women graduated from the Christian Women's Job Corps and two men graduated from the Christian Men's Job Corps program under the Hands UP Outreach ministry. Each of these women and men had mentors/coaches to encourage and disciple them. Twenty-four other participants received Certificates of Accomplishments during the Celebration time. Hands UP Outreach (CWJC & CMJC) is a ministry of Rankin Baptists.
