"The Catalyst"

 June 2013
Summer is here

Bro. Allen

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S CORNER

With the beginning of summer we are reminded that it is time for Vacation Bible School. Most of our churches are conducting VBS this year and many good things will come out of that. Many children will gain a better understanding of the Bible and learn more about Jesus. Hopefully, many of them will come to know Him as their personal Savior. Please pray for the VBS workers and for the children as they participate in VBS. Also, it is our desire that many unchurched children and adults will be reached through these opportunities.

The Southern Baptist Convention will be meeting in Houston, Texas this year and Fred Luter, the first African-American to be president of the Convention will be presiding. Please be in prayer for the Convention and for our president. Also, pray for the people of Houston as several different evangelistic efforts will be made before and during the Convention. Bro. Luter's address on Tuesday evening of the Convention will actually be an evangelistic effort targeting the residents of Houston. May many come to know Christ through all of these efforts.

Also, there will be many missions' projects from our Rankin Baptist Churches during June both here in Mississippi and around the world. It is a great time to be serving our Lord!

In Christ,

Allen Stephens                                                                                                                     Executive Director

In Christ,

Allen Stephens

 CWJC graduations

Hands UP Outreach (CWJC & CMJC) of Rankin County had a total of 23 graduates from four different sites during their spring programs. The graduates included those in classes inside the prison system and in our outside communities of Pearl and Richland. New to our program is Christian Men's Job Corps (CMJC), Pearl site with one graduate on May 9. The men like our women, must attend two semesters or 24 weeks of class time. This class time includes Bible Study and mentoring. The purpose of CMJC is to provide a Christian atmosphere in which men in need are equipped for life and employment in an environment where men help men. CMJC is not a job placement center, but an equipping center. Volunteers are always needed for women and men.

Thank you from RCBA

A big thank you to Dr. Perry Sanderford for pulling out our dead trees and to Jerry Mowdy for planting the new knock-out roses.  We love our volunteers.

In 2011, Shelly signed her first publishing/recording deal with Lifeway Worship. Her debut EP "Power of the Cross" (2012), an emotional anthem, with the lead-off single, "All Things Beautiful" has made a huge impact in Christian radio formats.

While writing and serving on staff at FBC Woodstock, GA, Shelly travels the country leading worship in churches, as well as for women's conferences. Shelly and her husband Jack live in Woodstock, GA.  To learn more go to: Shellyejohnson.com.

"Around the World Mission Party"

Fifty two ladies and children from 7 Rankin County churches attended the "Around the World Mission Party" and G. A. event from 9:30 a.m. - noon on April 27th at Liberty Baptist Church.

Everyone enjoyed a wonderful brunch, great fellowship, and an opportunity to learn about and order WorldCraft items. Becky Graves, Worldcraft Specialist, with MBCB, displayed four tables of hand-made items. She shared information about the Artisans, who make Worldcraft items and the WMU sponsored program which helps improve the lives of impoverished people around the world.

The G. A.'s spent the remaining time writing birthday cards to two NAMB missionaries, packaging cookies and adding scripture cards for homebound members in their neighborhood; they also potted plants to take to local nursing home residents.
