Welcome to GSSA Weekly, the council's e-newsletter.
At right, Girl Scout Troop 9363 made posters to show how Girl Scouts give back at cookie time, and to thank customers for donating cookies in Operation Cookie Care. Very good customer relations, ladies! Click here or on the image to see a larger version. Want to see your Girl Scouts featured in GSSA Weekly? E-mail the photo with event information to communications@girlscoutssa.org.

Cookie Bites: Reminders for Cookie Chairs
|

ACH withdrawal: on February 10, the first half of cookie money due to council will be withdrawn from troop bank accounts (includes cookies picked up through Feb 3). Remember to transfer cookies to girls in SNAP to correctly calculate Per Girl Averages ( here's a video tutorial on our Troop Cookie Chair resources web page). Patches Galore! Girl Scouts earn free (council-provided) cookie patches during the sale (see page 3 of this year's Cookie Recognitions). There are also patches troops may purchase ($0.50 each) for participating in Walkabout, Booth Sale, Cookie Share (Operation Cookie Care), Online Sales, and reaching a personal goal in COCO. Click here for the Patch Order form, or find it on our Troop Cookie Chair resources web page.

Earn My Promise, My Faith Pin for Girl Scout Sunday
|
Earning the My Promise, My Faith Pin is a great way to prepare for Girl Scout Sunday on March 6!
The focus of this earned award is for the Girl Scout to examine the relationship between the Girl Scout Law and her faith, through activities and discussions with members of her faith community. The requirements for the My Promise, My Faith award may be found in the Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting.
Girl Scouts partners with P.R.A.Y. (Programs of Religions Activities with Youth) to identify religious recognitions that girls may earn (one of the requirements of the My Promise, My Faith award). Click here to learn more.

Cookie Season Notes and Looking Ahead
|

It's cookie season, and we are grateful for the really great weather we had last weekend. We had many reports of girls out and about selling cookies. On my way out of the office door tonight, a car pulled up and the occupants wanted cookies. I thought they were requesting an opportunity to pick up cookies, but they just wanted to buy two boxes of cookies because they were craving them. We had the same thing happen last week in Dothan when someone wanted cookies mid-week and could not wait until the weekend to find a cookie booth. Clearly, there's some pent up desire for cookies, and hopefully your girls will be able to meet the needs.
We have had some reports of locations that are especially particular about where girls are set up to sell. Please comply with their wishes, since they don't have to allow us back and we want to cooperate with their hospitality. Remember to check in with the manager and thank them for letting you be there. To touch on professionalism, we thank folks even if they don't choose to buy. We don't know their reasons, but need to respect their right to choose. It is important to be an active cookie seller. Having your ear buds in listening to music while the adults sell the cookies is not the type of girl entrepreneur image we want to present. Being engaged and involved at a cookie booth is a great way to be part of a team. I've seen some great photos of cookie drive-thrus from last weekend. As always, if you have issues, concerns, suggestions, please send them to communications@girlscoutssa.org.

Other Opportunities
|
Because we want our girls to have many learning (and fun!) opportunities, we offer this additional calendar for programs that are not presented by our council. Some of these programs are presented by our volunteer Troops and Service Units, others are put on by groups in the communities we serve. Calendar listings do not imply endorsement by the council. This calendar is available on our Events & Programs page
Please contact the volunteer listed in the program for more information and program status.
