Welcome to GSSA Weekly, the council's e-newsletter.
At right, Girl Scouts get an opportunity to both sit on a horse and express themselves creatively by PAINTING A HORSE.
A lot of fun was had at the Auburn University Horse Center program. Girls got to watch highly skilled young women compete in various riding disciplines in an Equestrian meet vs. Baylor. Then they toured the barns and learned about the horses.
Too bad there wasn't an artistic competition during the meet -- our Girl Scouts would have won!

Cookie Bites: Remaining Cookies Available
|
We still have cookies available, and we're offering them to troops at these very special prices -- while supplies last!
Make your cookies count: donate a case to First-Responders!
Your $20 donation will purchase a case that we will distribute to your local police, fire, rescue crews.
Email [email protected] and tell us where you live and how many cases you want to purchase for donation. Payment by debit/credit, money order, check or cash will be accepted. Or you may use our online shop for even more convenience.
Won't our hard-working first responders be delighted!
Can our troop still sell cookies?
Yes, and we have plenty of cookies available at $24/case while supplies last. The Troop Cookie Manager may purchase them for your troop. Payment by troop debit, credit, money order, check or cash will be accepted. Troops should continue to sell cookies for $3.50/pkg.
Gluten-Free Trios are also available by the package, for $4 each, in very limited quantities (and should sell for $5/pkg).
You may pick up cookies at either Council Service Center, or we will arrange for you to get them locally (at area cupboards) while those supplies last. Hurry, those cupboard cookies won't be left at area cupboards much longer.
These cookies will not count toward recognitions in Snap, since we have closed out Snap in order to place the troop recognitions orders.
Can we continue to hold booth sales?

A GIGANTIC THANK YOU!
|
...to everyone who moved cookies, sold cookies, marketed cookies, or had anything to do with the cookie program. We are still working through some of details, but it looked like we did okay on the cookie program this year. I recognize it is a tremendous amount of work and effort on the part of thousands of you to make that a success. I always hear great stories about girls who found their voice, learned more about arithmetic, was able to make eye contact with strangers and a variety of other life skills from that one program. So thank you for all you did to make everything about that program successful.
We have gotten back into the swing of things with some great Girl Scout programs to celebrate Girl Scout week, which for us is every week. Thanks to our hosts at Auburn University for a great equestrian program. I saw the pictures and it looked like a great time. We have Pi day this weekend, again thanks to Auburn University who is hosting this STEM day for the girls. The USS Alabama Battleship sleepover is maxed out with girls, a great weekend is on tap for that one. The Joy to Life walk in Montgomery is scheduled for April, if you have girls that need community service hours they need items made for the Survivor Tent. Also, one of my favorites each year, the Biscuits baseball game and Camporee sleepover is in April.
We have a mini-destination scheduled for Huntsville, there is lots to see and do while there. It would be a great way to explore science and be awestruck with how STEM can turn into a job that changes the world by going to space. A great opportunity to explore the Great State of Alabama!
