The historic Daniel Hotel on Water Street in Brunswick will be the venue for "Community Economics" on October 22. This is sure to be one of the most important sessions you will attend in the coming year. This session will cover policy, program and practical decisions community members, business leaders and governmental leaders make everyday and will analyze the costs and consequences of these.

Topsham's Economics
In addition to Community Economics on October 22 in Brunswick, the Town of Topsham will have a special evening session on Wednesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m. with Chuck Marohn at the Topsham Public Library. In collaboration with Topsham, Friends of Midcoast Maine invites participants in The Community Institute to attend this session as well, focusing on specific analysis and recommendations for the Town of Topsham. The Wednesday evening Topsham session is free but you may sign up for this at the regular Community Institute registration page if you are planning to attend both. If you want to attend in Topsham only on October 21, please e-mail us at info@communityinstitute.org.

Maine Active Community Environments Workshops
Friends of Midcoast Maine, in conjunction with the Maine Downtown Center and the Active Communities Environment Workgroup, will be holding 3 workshops for improving community walkability and making it easier for people in your community to be more active where they live, work, play and learn. More information and registration for these free sessions will be available soon.

  • March 9 in Rockport at 8 am - 10 am
