MULTI-GENERATIONAL COMMUNITIES-
Aging in Place
February 27-28, 2015
Damariscotta, Maine
What can our Maine communities do to build healthier, stronger multi-generational communities? How can we make our cities, towns and public spaces better for all ages? What can individuals do for the healthiest, longest life possible? This is about and for YOU and YOUR COMMUNITY!
Watch next week for registration materials for "Multi-Generational Communities-Aging in Place". This is the second session of The Community Institute and will feature a 1 1/2 day training session with national and regional faculty members, hands-on field work and leadership skills. It will be held in Damariscotta on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28, 2015 and includes a Friday evening presentation open to the general public by Nick Buettner of The Blue Zones Project on "Living Longer and Better".
The Blue Zones began as a National Geographic expedition evolved into a recipe for living longer and healthier. Our key note speaker will discuss this community well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks.
The Community Institute session will be held in downtown Damariscotta and is sponsored by AARP, Coastal Enterprises, Maine Association of Planers, Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, Spectrum Generations, Healthy Lincoln County, and GrowSmart Maine., to name a few.
