Spaces are filling up for Session #1 "Streets, Places and People" with Gary Toth and David Nelson of the Project for Public Spaces and Joel Mills of AIA's Center for Communities by Design. Each session will include a leadership component led by Carol Taylor of The Maine Development Foundation.    

 

Instructors Gary Toth and David Nelson from Project for Public Spaces, and Joel Mills from the Communities by Design-American Institute of Architects, and Carol Taylor from the Maine Development Foundation will lead participants through the 1 1/2 day program.

         
Hands-on Project - Parking Lot Redesign and Build
  
We have received permission from the Town of Camden to build a PLACE out of a PARKING LOT.  How cool is that!  Using donated supplies, participants and other community members will use their muscle and their ingenuity in the morning of Day 2. This hands-on component will make the session meaningful and complete, with tools and resources you can take to your own town. 
  
The first session is co-sponsored by the Town of Camden and the Camden Opera House and the Maine Association of Planners.

The Community Institute offers three sessions for 2014-2015.  Each is 1 1/2 days and focuses on topics of interest to the midcoast and beyond.
