Form Based Codes Exploration

Are Form Based Codes a good fit for Damariscotta? If you've been participating in, or just following the Damariscotta Heart & Soul effort to develop a vision for Damariscotta's future, you may have heard the term, "Form Based Code."  But like many people you may not be clear about how this relatively new way to maintain a town's visual character while encouraging growth actually might affect Damariscotta, Now's your chance to find out.

The topic will be the focus of the July 6 meeting of the Damariscotta Planning Advisory Committee (DPAC), to be held in the town hall meeting room from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

DPAC has invited Alan S. Manoian, AICP, Principal - M Contextual Planning, and the Director of Economic & Community Development, Town of Bridgton, ME, to speak about Form Based Codes and how they have been and can be applied in Maine Communities.  As always, all are welcome and encouraged to attend!

For more information on Form Based Codes visit  the Maine State Planning Office website at

Piper Commons Presentation

The representatives from Piper Commons will be making a presentation to DPAC and the public on Tuesday July 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.  They will be presenting their vision for the design of the Piper Common property and will invite public comment and discussion.  Please join in this discussion.
Please forward this information to your friends, neighbors and colleagues who may be interested in hearing more about DPAC and the future of Damariscotta.

Sincerely,
