Shore and Harbor PlanningDamariscotta Shore and Harbor

At next week's DPAC meeting, Mitchell Rasor of MRLD LLC will be presenting revised plans for the shore and harbor area that include redesigning parking and the park area, without losing parking spaces. DPAC members had requested some additional information and clarification of some of his proposals. Mitchell will present a 4th scheme with some variations as well as some new technical information. All are invited to participate.
Charrette Update...
charrette postcard
DPAC members have reviewed and suggested edits to the first draft of the charrette report; soon the charrette consultants will be incorporating these comments into the next draft of the report. We know everyone is eager to see the charrette report in a final version.  As soon as it is ready, we will post it on the web and have copies available in the libray and town hall. Then there will be many opportunities for more public comment about the ideas and visions contained in the report.  Stay tuned!
DPAC's Work for 2010: Public Help Needed!!

After months of public participation, DPAC has outlined its work for 2010. DPAC is looking for volunteers to help carry out these efforts over the coming year.

This work includes the ideas heard from the public during DPAC's community workshops, neighbor to neighbor meetings, surveys and other public venues including the charrette.  The DPAC work goes on to address some of the issues and concerns raised, above and beyond the design ideas that will be addressed in the soon to be released charrette report.

Over the next year, some of the areas where DPAC members will be involved include:
  • recommending that the Select Board develop a multi-modal work group to research, promote and implement alternative modes of transportation;
  • evaluating options for public restrooms downtown;
  • working with the selectboard to develop a business philosophy for business attraction and retention;
  • researching options for additional community meeting space;
  • holding neighborhood meetings to solicit on-going public comment and participation;
  • examining the options for satellite parking and seasonal employee seasonal parking;
  • researching options, locations and designs and obtaining broad public input for signage and branding Damariscotta and the downtown.

If you are interested in being part of any of these efforts, please contact a DPAC member or e-mail DPAC at dpac@damariscottame.com.
