Dear Bill & WorldTaiChiDay.org,

I just want to thank you to continuously promote
Tai Chi, Qi Gong and the World Tai Chi Day! I really
think that it will change the perception and that many
people will somehow come in contact with
these wonderful arts.

Now that it's over for this year, I wish you a good time
to get back to normal, relax and enjoy the summer!

Kind regards,

Angelika, Germany/Deutschland

FUN TAI CHI FACT ...

ANOTHER STAR TREK EPISODE: MORE TAI CHI SCENES

Star Trek's Creator, Gene Roddenberry's vision of possibility & World Tai Chi & Qigong Day

One of the many futuristic visions Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry shared with the world via his globally famed television series, was his vision of international cooperation.

The crew of the Star Ship Enterprise was made up of a Russian, an Asian, an African, a European, and an American team, all working together for a common positive goal of being a supportive force in the world, the universe in Star Trek's case.

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day has been an unprecedented grass-roots collective vision of people all over the planet, in over 80 nations, spanning 6 continents. This idea of global connection and cooperation is innate within human beings, which is why this special day each year captured the imagination of people worldwide. We have an innate desire, as human beings, to seek connection. We are the future.

Gene Roddenberry also opened the mind of billions of people over the decades to the fact that "it has not all been discovered" and that 'tomorrow can be the greatest adventure of humanity.'

Scientific research is revealing that Tai Chi, Qigong, and Mind-body Meditative practices can profoundly improve the education process in schools, and the medical research is showing that by teaching all public school children worldwide these internal arts, we could save trillions of dollars in health costs worldwide every single year, year after year, after year.

The scientific research shows that internal arts can increase brain size, increase the compassion and empathy parts of the brain, shrink the stress/fear parts of the brain, and increase IQ, mental acuity, creativity, and even increase human's ability to realize or actualize the future they envision.

What kind of future are we bringing in, by expanding awareness of Tai Chi and Qigong worldwide, educating the public about the health benefits of these arts ... and by giving millions worldwide via our global event and media coverage ... a vision of humanity coming together as one with a healing vision and purpose?

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day says that "tomorrow" is the place, the adventure, we want to see.

"The human race is a remarkable creature, one with great potential, and I hope that 'Star Trek' has helped to show us what we can be if we believe in ourselves and our abilities."
-- Gene Roddenberry,
creator of Star Trek

"The Strength of a civilization is not measured by its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them."
-- Gene Roddenberry,
creator of Star Trek

"Emerging scientific research is showing that mind-body meditative practices literally restructure the brain, and can increase empathy and compassion centers of the brain. Programs in schools reduce bullying, and Tai Chi and Qigong Meditation programs in prisons reduce violent incidences in prison and make prisoners much less likely to end up in prison.  The Dalai Lama said that if we taught every school child how to meditate, violence would become a thing of the past."
-- World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Founders

"'Star Trek' says that it has not all happened, it has not all been discovered, that tomorrow can be as challenging and adventurous as any time man has ever lived."
-- Gene Roddenberry,
creator of Star Trek

"Each year, World Tai Chi & Qigong Day provides global media an opportunity to cover something unprecedented, and beautiful, something that inspires the best in people and gives them a positive vision of the future, and information that can improve their health and their lives--and shows that the news can be more than fear, violence, and blood. What is most likely to kill human beings, is not other human beings, it is stress, and global media is causing untold stress with an over emphasis on fear coverage."
-- World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Founders

"I wanted to send a message to the television industry that excitement is not made of car chases."
-- Gene Roddenberry,
creator of Star Trek

BREAKING
TAI CHI
MEDICAL
NEWS:

TAI CHI AS A METAROBIC EXERCISE!

TAI CHI CAN TREAT HEART DISEASE!
Also, Tai Chi can be a form of Qigong, when breathing, visualization is combined w/ movements

TAI CHI AS METAROBICS

Post Birth Breathing

A Metarobic approach to Evidence-Based Tai Chi
The Metarobic Institute (metarobics.org) offers exciting new research underlying benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong for health and chronic conditions. The implications for promoting Tai Chi and making it more accessible to the medical field and general public are tremendous.

Metarobic theory developed from research and observations following reports of three of Dr. Gryffin's students, who felt that Tai Chi had a large impact on their cancer treatment. Pete began researching cancer, and found that hypoxia (oxygen deficiency in the tissues) made cancer difficult to treat. Since a literal definition of Qi is air, or oxygen, he began measuring blood oxygen saturation. Measurements demonstrated an effect different from aerobic forms of exercise, related to unique effects on enhanced blood oxygen saturation and diffusion, and implications for enhanced oxygen based metabolism. Further research revealed that hypoxia underlies or complicates a wide range of chronic conditions. His book "Tai Chi Therapy: The Science of Metarobics," documents research underlying Metarobic theory for a wide range of chronic conditions, as well as over 50 case stories.  (

Dr. Gryffin's goal for the Metarobic Institute is to develop a center for research, education, and promotion of forms of Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga (focused on relaxation and the breath), for health and chronic conditions, in a manner which supports public interest and increased opportunities for teachers. This is an important step for increasing awareness and opportunities for spreading Tai Chi and related exercises (detailed in his recent blog post: "Why Metarobics."

TAI CHI CAN TREAT
HEART FAILURE ! -- BBC News

American Heart Association
World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Founder presented to the American Heart Association on Tai Chi and Qigong as heart health treatment in 2001_ referring medical experts to Tai Chi and Qigong teachers in their areas_ by directing them to the _Schools Directory_ at www.WorldTaiChiDay.org

(see 2nd citing down)
A total of 29 studies met inclusion criteria, including 9 randomized controlled trials, 14 nonrandomized studies, and 6 observational trials. The study subjects included patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure, CVD, and CVDRF (hypertension, dyslipidemia, impaired glucose metabolism). Tai Chi interventions ranged from 8 weeks to 3 years, and the sample size ranged from 5 to 207. Most studies reported improvement with Tai Chi intervention, such as reduction in blood pressure and increase in exercise capacity. In addition, no adverse effects were reported. The authors concluded that Tai Chi may be a beneficial adjunctive therapy for patients with CVD and CVDRF.- Medscape Today, from WebMD, 10/26/2010

BBC News - Saturday, 9 October, 2004, 23:22 GMT 00:22 UK
A US study of 30 patients found regular classes gave patients better movement and reduced BNP levels, a measure of heart failure.
A number of the patients attended twice weekly classes for 12 months while a second group had standard treatment.
The British Heart Foundation said the study was "excellent news" and Tai Chi could be adopted into treatment programmes in the UK in the future.

TAI CHI CAN BE HEALING QIGONG ...

Medical Research suggests that when Qigong breathing (full abdominal breathing), and visualization of relaxation and flow, combined with relaxed movements are part of a Tai Chi form it maximizes the effectiveness of the Tai Chi as a "Qigong Health or Medical Tool."

Below is a free WorldTaiChiDay.org "Tai Chi & Qigong Breathing Tutorial"
Feel free to share it widely.

On Adding Breathing to your Tai Chi ...

If your Tai Chi form does not include breath work, it is easy to add it if you want to. Generally, when you are moving arms and legs to get set for a form, you are breathing in. When you let go, and sink, into the leg and the posture, you are exhaling.
The in-breath and the movement of hands, arms, legs to get into position for the next posture this is a Yang act that you are "managing." Then, as you let go, surrender, sigh or exhale, as you sink down your Vertical Axis down through that leg you are filling, that is a Yin act of "sinking or surrender, or letting go."

Over time, the Qi or energy flow becomes part of this process as well. When you breathe in, the life energy or Qi infuses within, throughout and all around you, intensifying (but with no effort or trying, it just happens naturally). Then, when you surrender and sink and flow into the filling leg and the form you are flowing into that radiance expands and flows through you--down through your Vertical Axis, leg, foot, and down into the earth below your filling leg--flowing out through your form, if you are pushing, flowing out through your upper body, shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, palms, as you let go around it as you sigh or exhale.

NOW, THIS ISN'T THE "ONLY" WAY TO APPROACH BREATHING.  No one Tai Chi or Qigong teacher knows everything about these vast arts. If we let go of that idea, we become open empty vessels, able to absorb more, to learn more. Your style or school may have a better way, this isn't saying this is the ONLY way, this is just something to play with if your Tai Chi does not consider breathing when flowing through your forms.

EXPANDING TAI CHI

& QIGONG INTO

CHURCHES,

MOSQUES,

SYNAGOGUES, ETC.

Although Tai Chi and Qigong are not religious practices, but rather mind-body science technologies that can, and should, be taught in all public schools worldwide ... for many they can provide mental and emotional clarity that many find enhances their spiritual or religious journey.

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day founders world invited to present on Tai Chi Meditation at the annual National Catholic Youth Conference for young Catholics all over America. WTCQD receives notes from teachers worldwide about their starting Tai Chi and Qigong Meditation classes in Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, Temples etc.
Lao Tzu said the Tao is like water, it nourishes all things. Tai Chi's relaxing flow allows the Tao, the energetic way of the universe, to flow through us, and to flow through all those people, places and institutions we encounter ... and it nourishes ALL things.

WTCQD NOTE to ALL WTCQD Videographers:

Dear organizers/videographers, the quality of photography and cinematography of your event coverage is stunning, way beyond what we all started with years ago. We wish we could headline every one of your videos coming in, and we will post them and run them, but it will take time.  DO NOT LOSE your high-resolution video files. We are certain that one day a feature length documentary of WTCQD will be done, and we'll do a call out for quality video files of past events from around the world when that happens. We are only waiting for a cinematographer with vision to embrace this and start a Kickstarter, etc. campaign to get it going. Our hope is the documentary will be titled "One World ... One Breath: A Global Tai Chi & Qigong Evolutionary Movement." Any accomplished, visionary documentarians out there? WTCQD is a gift to any documentarian with the vision to take advantage of it, documentarians/funders of documentaries read more.

"This event is not just about watching a bunch of
Tai Chi, it is also about saying 'the heart of what
we do is a common meeting ground for people of
very different backgrounds.' We call it 24 Hours
of
World Peace for a reason. Because if we can get
together for one day and forget about everything that
divides us and separates us and makes us different
from each other ... and focus instead on one of the
things that makes us similar ... that we enjoy together
... that's a recipe for world peace.

... there is a "GoFundMe" link, and if you click
on that, you can contribute to the fundraising for
World Tai Chi & Qigong Day and the
24 Hours of World Peace Livestream project."

TAOIST FILMS ...

"Harold and Maude" is a very Taoist film, that never uses the word Taoist.

A fascinating and beautiful bit of cinematography with Bud Cort (M.A.S.H.) and Ruth Gordon, music by Cat Stevens.

WORLD MUSIC ...

One of the most beautiful things about observing World Tai Chi & Qigong Day celebrations, is seeing how Tai Chi and Qigong are influenced by cultures worldwide. In that spirit, we share this fun new feature, we call "World Music" where cultural music is blended in the most extraordinary ways.

This week's feature is a stunningly beautiful piece from NHK JAPAN Television:

TURN UP THE VOLUME ON THIS, AND ALLOW YOUR MIND TO BE BLOWN :-)

GLOBAL QI ... OPENING MINDS TO SOLUTIONS OF THE FUTURE ...

Pan Asian Super Grid
Pan Asian Super Grid

Plans for an Asian Super Grid  involving high energy under ocean cable grids across Asia, in an internet-like grid, could shift Asia's developing economies to solar and wind renewable, enabling Asia to rapidly develop without adding to global warming.

And a coming Pan European Super Grid will do the same for Europe, sharing wind power from Northern Europe and Solar from Southern Europe, to create a grid of exchanging energy.

Stanford University Engineering Department studies have found that 5 times more energy than the United States, and the world, can use is available worldwide from solar, wind, and hydro-electric sources ... AND, a green energy shift would increase employment and boost the economy.

Pan European _ Africa Super Grid

SO, WHY AREN'T WE ALREADY MAKING THESE CHANGES ON A MASSIVE SCALE?

Yes, it seems odd, even a bit insane that we are doing things in a way that diminishes our economies and adds to unemployment and the suffering it causes--when new better ways are available.

The answer lies in the Human Brain, there is a reflex in our mind/brain that automatically rejects new information. This reflex causes us to stick with old ways of doing things, even when new information tells us there is a better way.

HOW CAN WE CHANGE THE HUMAN MIND, TO CHANGE THE WORLD?

Scientific research on neuroplasticity shows that meditation practice can make that part of the brain that automatically rejects new information to go into abeyance--thereby enabling us to consider new data, new ways, new methods.  The world needs increasing flexibility as Earth's population rises, so that we can adapt and evolve.

Mind-body meditative technologies are the prescription for the future.
