Dear World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters,

We have much to celebrate ... and much to do!

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day 2013 is coming in, not with a whimper, but with a ROAR!  Harvard Medical School has scheduled the release of a series of lectures on Harvard's Tai Chi medical research. The release is timed to coincide with World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. The Harvard Medical School's Guide to Tai Chi is out, and will be generating much media about Tai Chi and Qigong as World Tai Chi & Qigong Day grows nearer.

Dr. Luk and Olive are organizing another massive event in Hong Kong for World Tai Chi & Qigong Day 2013. See article.

Think Locally ... Act Globally
New WorldTaiChiDay.org Project .  .

In our local Kansas City classes this week, two students confided to us after class that their doctor had taken them off of their diabetes medication, asking them what they had changed in their lives, diet, what? Both had told heir physician that the only change had been that they'd started doing Tai Chi and Qigong. Another student then said that it had helped reduce her migraines, and another said it had enabled her to avoid a hip replacement she'd been scheduled for before starting Tai Chi classes, and another said that Tai Chi and Qigong had eliminated his arthritis pain.

This gave us an idea, and we asked these students if they'd be willing to tell their testimonials on video, and all readily agreed to do so, in the hope it might inspire others dealing with the same health challenges the classes had helped them with, to start using Tai Chi and Qigong. THEN WE THOUGHT, WHY NOT DO THIS GLOBALLY? We plan to collect video testimonials from tai chi and qigong practitioners from around the world, telling their story about particular health issues they've found relief from, and posting them in our Medical Research Library! See article.

* Note to students: WorldTaiChiDay.org highly encourages you to not only tell your instructor about benefits you've enjoyed from his/her classes, but to mention it in front of the class from time to time so new students can hear your experience. Your story is an important one. We often undervalue the power we have in this world, and it diminishes our power. Realize that your success is an inspiration to all new students coming to the class. After 20 years of teaching Tai Chi and Qigong, I have learned that the quality of a class is only partly due to the teacher, the best classes are the ones where students connect as a group, allowing space where hearts can open.
-- Bill Douglas, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to T'ai Chi & Qigong

On a personal note: Angela and I would like to do a shout out to our new son-in-law, Jordan Cook, who held off his marriage proposal to our beautiful daughter, Andrea Mei-Wah Douglas, so that he could propose to her on World Tai Chi & Qigong Day :-)  Jordan, happy coming proposal anniversary!

Medical Tai Chi
The New WorldTaiChiDay.org
Project!

The NEW WORLDTAICHIDAY.ORG PROJECT, is to ask individuals on this email list who have experienced health benefits from their Tai Chi and/or Qigong practice to record a short 3 or 4 minute video explaining what health issue their Tai Chi or Qigong practice helped with. We plan to begin posting these in our Medical Research Library in the future under those health issues where we have medical research on them.

Feel free to mention your teacher/school, or the book or dvd that you learned from, and your city/state/nation if you feel comfortable doing so. You'll need to then upload it to Youtube as a public video, and send us the youtube link at billdouglas@worldtaichiday.org.

Your story may help someone change their life. We've collected Medical Research articles for 15 years for our Library at http://www.worldtaichiday.org/WTCQDHlthBenft.html
But, to have a human face talking to others facing the same challenges is a powerful thing, perhaps as or more powerful than just reading the research results. You can be a healing force in this world.

One World ... One Breath

Thank you! Harvard Tai Chi Guide

On the day of the official release of Harvard Medical School's Guide to T'ai Chi we asked you to get a copy of this important milestone in Tai Chi and Qigong's acceptance into
mainstream society.

You answered the call in a BIG way. On that day the amazon ranking of this important book was near 2,000. By the end of the day, after so many of you ordered it on amazon, it rose up to 175 on amazon ranking. That is an extraordinary accomplishment for a Tai Chi or Qigong related book. As any Tai Chi or Qigong author will tell you, including me, no one is getting rich writing books on this subject :-)

Together, we brought Tai Chi and its Harvard Medical School validation to the eyes of millions of people by bringing it to the top of many sales category lists on amazon exposing a whole new audience to these arts, and showing that the world's most prestigious medical institution recognizes their value.

This was a BIG day for Tai Chi and Qigong worldwide, and its effects will ripple out through society for years to come. To the other Tai Chi or Qigong author's on this mailing list, you should take heart in this success. By Harvard widening the Tai Chi and Qigong audience, it will eventually bring more eyes to your works as well.

together ... so much."
