Visit Wildlife Images for an unforgettable and unique experience! A guided tour of the wildlife rehabilitation center will include special visits by some of their resident animal ambassadors. During the tour, girls will also get to offer the critters special toys and treats.

Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train

Open to Girl Scouts of all ages
Hood River, OR

Based on the popular PBS Kids television series, Dinosaur Train™ embraces and celebrates the fascination kids have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific and thinking skills.

 

Passengers board the train in Hood River and travel with the safari crew before arriving at the Nature Tracker's Adventure Park. Hop off the train and enjoy park exploration and other fun activities! Follow "real" dinosaur tracks to gigantic inflatable creatures, dig like archaeologists to find prehistoric treasures, make a variety of dinosaur arts and crafts to take home, and snap pictures with your favorite lovable T. Rex, Buddy.

Financial Fitness Challenge

Open to Girl Scouts of all ages

GSOSW's Financial Fitness Challenge is designed to empower Girl Scouts at all levels to build their business and money management skills. Using our national badge program for Financial Literacy, girls will become confident, knowledgeable consumers and business leaders.

How can you join the challenge? It's easy!

1. Earn at least one of the new Financial Literacy badges for your grade level.

2. Fill out a survey to let us know which badge you earned between May 1, 2014 and August 31, 2014, and we will send you a FREE patch!

In addition to the free patch, the first 1,000 girls to complete the badge and turn in their survey by August 31, 2014 will receive a $5 off coupon to attend GirlFest!

Lions, Gators & Birds...Oh my!

Open to Girl Scout Brownies & Juniors  


Join us on a wild animal adventure as we create a kingdom of robotic animals! Using LEGO WeDo, girls will use their creativity to build and program animal robots. Applying various aspects of LEGO curriculum combined with Girl Scout activities, girls will expand their knowledge of STEM, build teamwork skills, learn the power of friendship and discover their potential as leaders in the STEM community. Let's have a ROAARRING good time!

Girls, Gears & Gadgets

Open to Girl Scout Cadettes

Portland, OR

 

Girls, get your gear on! Join other Girl Scouts to learn about simple machines. We use them in everyday life: lever, wedge, screw, wheels and axles. Girls learn to identify and build six simple machines, then use their own ideas and creativity to create and combine designs and build a machine of their own. Hands on activities using LEGO bricks and other building materials give girls the opportunity to practice what they already know and build on their own mechanical skills. A week of scientific method, team work, songs, games and smarts.

LEGO Simple Machines and Motorized Mechanisms 

Open to Girl Scout Brownies & Juniors

 

Come create simple machines and discover how they work by experimenting and building with gears, levers and pulleys. Using LEGO Simple Machines and Motorized Mechanisms sets, your girl will use her creativity to build and program LEGO robots. Applying various aspects of LEGO curriculum to expand girls' knowledge of STEM combined with Girl Scout activities, girls will build teamwork skills, learn the power of friendship and discover their potential as leaders in the STEM community.

  

Already attended our LEGO WeDo camp earlier in the summer? This camp is a great way to spend another week playing with LEGOs!

Young Rembrandts Art Workshops

Art Portfolio Workshop

Open to Girl Scout Juniors & Cadettes

 

This workshop is new for Young Rembrandts. You will be introduced to a variety of art styles, such as abstract, still life, pattern and design, portrait and scenery. Girls will explore each style and find the one that suits them best. This will be a multimedia workshop and each girl will create a 20x23 poster of their artwork. Please bring a sack lunch.

Cartoon Drawing Workshops

 

Join us for a fun and humorous workshop. Each girl will learn how to create a new cartoon character, draw actions, movement, sound, expressions, moods or develop a series of drawings to tell a fun story. Girls draw in a fun-filled atmosphere while improving their artistic skills.

Elementary Drawing Workshops

 

This workshop is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques, and vocabulary. Each lesson breaks down complex objects into basic fundamental shapes, deconstructs and reconstructs images, a variety of art concepts, such as still life, perspective and portraiture. Join us for a fun and child friendly art class.

Drawing Badge Workshop for Juniors

Open to Girl Scout Juniors

 

Is your GS Junior interested in earning her Drawing badge? This workshop is designed to meet the requirements. Girls will work on 2-3 drawings using different styles, coloring techniques, and core learning skills. After the workshop you can head to the Girl Scout shop and purchase your badge. Join us for a fun-filled art workshop!

Cartooning Under the Sea Day Camp

Open to Girl Scout Daisies & Brownies

 

Join us as we dive into the water and explore the ocean. From dolphins to starfish to pirates, this cartooning day camp will surely add fun to a girl's summer. Using the proven Young Rembrandts method, girls will learn basic drawing skills and coloring techniques.

Fashion Runway Day Camp

Open to Girl Scout Juniors & Cadettes

 

From fashion close ups to style to accessories to striking a pose, girls will spend the week designing their very own fashion show. Each day the girls will work on numerous drawings. On the last day of camp, they will have a chance to show off their creations. At this camp, girls will express their creativity with cutting, gluing, making collages and having fun! The camp is geared to girls in grades 4-6 but older Cadettes are welcome too.

Mother/Daughter Fashion Workshop

Open to Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies & Juniors

 

Mothers and daughters will enjoy an all day fashion workshop that will explore historical female fashions and styles from around the world. Learn about fashion from the Victorian era, African, Egyptian, Japanese, Chinese and Native American clothing styles. Artists will have fun working as a team. Bring a sack lunch.

Digital Media Studio Day Camp

Open to Girl Scout Cadettes - Ambassadors

Portland, OR

 

Have you ever wanted to say something really important but couldn't quite find the words? Try using pictures instead. We'll learn why cameras are one of the best storytelling tools around. Working in pairs and using iMovie, you will get to create a photo essay on a topic of your choice, be it something you want to raise awareness about or a topic you simply find interesting. You will also have the opportunity to create a side project using video, just for fun! We will decide as a group on at least two destinations in Portland, and finish the week with a presentation for your families.

Zumba Kids Dance Workshops

Portland, OR

 

Join this high energy Zumba Kids Jr dance workshop and learn to dance to rhythmic tunes from around the world. Each song is broken down into fun, easy to follow steps, which culminate in hip-hop and salsa-inspired dance routines. Adults are encouraged to join! This workshop will feature age-appropriate music but the moves will increase EVERYONE'S pulse. It's a party for all ages! Wear cool, comfortable clothing, supportive sneakers and bring a water bottle.

Safari Adventure Camp Out


Open to Girl Scout Brownies & Juniors
Winston, OR

 

Experience Wildlife Safari under the moonlight with your Girl Scout friends. Enjoy having the park all to yourselves, including a nocturnal animal show, a guided night hike and Leave No Trace activities. Then cozy up by the fire with S'mores and stories with your friends. In the morning after breakfast is served, participate in a unique carnivore activity and encounter. Fall asleep to frogs and crickets and wake up to the awesome sound of roaring lions. You won't get any closer to a world-wide safari than this!

Have you ever wanted to explore the Oregon coast by kayak? Enjoy a fall morning, paddling through secret coves, kelp beds, a cultural site and the working fishing port of Port Orford with South Coast Tours. You may see a variety of sea life including seasonal and resident birds, harbor seals, and maybe even grey whales! Make it a trip and camp at Cape Blanco or Humbug Mountain State Parks nearby.

Fun & Games at ComedySportz
