Outdoor Education Retreat (Train the Trainer)

Open to Girl Scout day camp core staff and Program Aides (14 years and older)
Stevenson, WA 


This program is designed to give camp directors and staff the skills and confidence to lead experiential science, wilderness survival, and adventure based education programs at camp, through very fun and interactive games and activities. You will learn several different ways to build and maintain fires and shelter, proper outdoor equipment selection, and map & compass use. Ecology (forest & water) and adventure education curriculum will be reinforced throughout the program. More information will be sent after registration to help you get prepared.

Ever dreamed of camping with hundreds of Girl Scouts from around the region and the world?  Are you ready for an adventure? Be a part of Girl Scouts of Northern California's third international camporee, California Dreamin2! Enjoy off-site trips, on site workshops, evening entertainment and much more! OMSI Camp-In: Science Extreme

Balance, speed and precision are all the rage at OMSI! From extreme sports to amazing scientific discoveries, find out how scientists use technology, engineering and science to make us faster, quicker and stronger than ever before. OMSI provides dinner, snack and continental breakfast; film, submarine tour, and museum admission the following day, including the Tony Hawk: Rad Science Exhibit. The main activities will focus on physics and engineering. There is no parking fee for this event.

Girls Save Lives Blood Drive

Help save lives by joining us for the Girls Save Lives Blood Drive! You can help in many ways!  Girls can register donors for the event by calling 541-842-4700 (please identify yourself as a Girl Scout), or help bring donors to the event at their scheduled time.  There will be lots of fun activities for the girls and refreshments too!  All girls who bring one or more donors to the event will receive a patch.

Experience local history with the valley's first people, the Kalapuya, and the world they knew for thousands of years.  Explore their season-based lifestyle with foods, plants, animals, tools and games to try.  Then dig into history with WHC's Archaeology; More Than Rocks adventure!  Get your hands dirty in a mini-dig with us and sift, map and theorize your way into a deeper understanding of local history.

Pioneer World: Fiber to fabric

Take a walk through time in the historic Thomas Kay Woolen Mill for a close look at the Industrial Revolution, the stories of water power, labor, economy and wool production.  Try the same production techniques through hands-on activities and a weaving project. Be a pioneer child with chores, clothes, school, food and play from an earlier time in the valley. Bring a sack lunch.

Camp Arrowhead - Spring 2014 Work Party

Relive the magic of camp while helping make it a better place for girls now and in the future - attend an Arrowhead Family/Troop Work Party! Projects will focus on getting camp facilities ready for the summer and improving other buildings and locations on camp. We also need adults with cordless drivers/drills to help. Forest Fun Day

Spend a fun and adventure-filled day on a working tree farm!  Explore the forests, fields, and streams for signs of wildlife, hike up a hillside to view the farm from above, learn all about the ways that Oregon's forests are fabulous - from recreation to wood products that we use everyday.  You will even get to create a beautiful forest bouquet to take home with you!
