CASWELL DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AWARD LUNCHEON ATTENDEES


Wayne Brock, a native of Lenoir County, and Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, was recognized as Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Caswell District of the East Carolina Council during a March 5 luncheon at the Woodmen Community Center in Kinston. Over 135 were in attendance including Eagle Scout Will "Big South" Fleming, cast member of the new reality show series "Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout" which premiered Monday, March 4, 8:00 PM on the National Geographic Channel.

East Carolina Council Executive Committee Takes Action On Gay Issue

Each year East Carolina Council carries out a survey to determine the benefits of Scouting to its youth members. At the February Executive Committee meeting the committee voted to add questions to this year's survey related to Gay youth and adults being allowed to join Scouting.        READ MORE

On Monday, February 4th, the Boy Scouts of America made its 2013 Report to the State of North Carolina in Raleigh. Led by Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby, the Report was received in session by both houses of the North Carolina General Assembly and recognizes the many North Carolina Eagle Scout senators and representatives currently serving in our State's legislature.
East Carolina Council troops are urged to register as soon as possible to be able to camp the week most convenient for the members of your troop.

Weetock hiking trail in the Croatan National Forest recently received two new information kiosks thanks to a group of energetic Boy Scouts from Troop 446 in Cape Carteret. The service project was organized by Life Scout Daniel Brewster as a requirement for the rank of Eagle Scout.

Neuse Basin - Gathering of Eagles 

The Neuse Basin District of the East Carolina Council invites you to join

fellow Eagle Scouts for an evening of reconnections and shared memories. The event is open to any Eagle Scout.

Aquatics Supervision Course - Camp Boddie/Pamlico Sea Base

For leaders who conduct unit swims, float trips with boats, canoes, or kayaks. Includes qualification in Swimming & Water Rescue and Paddle Craft Safety. Conducted weekend of May 3-June 2, 2013. COST:  $40.00

National Youth Leadership Training at Camp Sam Hatcher  

Registration is now open. The course will be held over the weekends of July 26 - 28, 2013 and August 2 - 4, 2013 and is open to Boy Scouts ages 13 - 17 who have achieved the rank of First Class, Venture Scouts and Sea Scouts to the age of 21.

Philmont Training Center: 2013 Registration & Invitation Process

Since 1950, the Philmont Training Center (PTC) in Cimarron, New Mexico has been the National Volunteer Training Center of the Boy Scouts of America. Conferences offered at PTC are designed to inform and motivate volunteers and professional Scouts-and their families.
