 "Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?"

This reality show premieres 8:00 PM Monday, March 4th 

on the National Geographic Channel - TWC 63, 253, 1253 (HD). The series of six weekly hour-long segments runs through April 8.

Many Scout units meet on Monday nights, so why not make watching the show a part of your weekly meeting along with a discussion about the show during the commercial breaks and after it's over.

BSA Policy Decision Planned for May

The National Executive Board needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy (current restriction on gay scouts and leaders). The 1,400 voting members will take action on the
resolution at the National Annual Meeting in May.

Venturing Crew 597, Jacksonville, joined over 3,000 Venturers and Explorers from around the country February 8-10 at the Gatlinburg, TN Civic Center to take part in High Adventure activities and competitions.
 The next Winterfest will be February, 2014.

9:30AM-4:30PM Saturday April 20, 2013 at the National Weather Service Office, 533 Roberts Road, Newport. An opportunity for Scouts to learn about weather and Emergency Preparedness while completing many requirements for the Weather, Water, and Emergency Preparedness related badges. Registration requiredcloses April 5, 2013.

$7,000 has been appropriated to purchase a 60" commercial mower  for Camp Charles and the arrival of heavy equipment heralds the start of the Camp Boddie paving project.

Thirty Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and adults from Pack/Troop 99, Washington,  collected 991 pounds of food items which will benefit "Eagle's Wings", the largest food pantry in Beaufort County.

Caswell District - Scoutmaster Specific Training

Classroom part of Scoutmaster Training;  required to be fully trained as a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster. Will be held 8:30AM Saturday Feb. 23, 2013, at the Garden Center Behind the Neuse Sports Shop

on HWY 70 Kinston. $3 fee at the door.


Aquatics Supervision Course - Camp Boddie/Pamlico Sea Base

For leaders who conduct unit swims, float trips with boats, canoes, or kayaks. Includes qualification in Swimming & Water Rescue and Paddle Craft Safety. Conducted weekend of May 3-June 2, 2013. COST:  $40.00

National Youth Leadership Training at Camp Sam Hatcher  

Registration is now open. The course will be held over the weekends of July 26 - 28, 2013 and August 2 - 4, 2013 and is open to Boy Scouts ages 13 - 17 who have achieved the rank of First Class, Venture Scouts and Sea Scouts to the age of 21.

Philmont Training Center: 2013 Registration & Invitation Process

Since 1950, the Philmont Training Center (PTC) in Cimarron, New Mexico has been the National Volunteer Training Center of the Boy Scouts of America. Conferences offered at PTC are designed to inform and motivate volunteers and professional Scouts-and their families.
