Exploring is a worksite-based program of Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America, for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years old 
 
 DISTRICT NEWS

Troop 9046 is very proud of their brand new 14 ft. v-nose Pace Cargo trailer with tandem axles. Scouts raised $4,500 for the new trailer through several years of Christmas tree sales.

 

 

 

Last December, Troop 816 of Tarboro lost Scout James Lee Parker in a tragic and deadly hunting accident. Christopher Marker made a donation towards a grave marker with the $100 bill  he received as a top award winner for Popcorn Sales. 


Tar River District "Winter FREEZE-O-REE"

 

A total of 234 youth from 23 different Boy Scout Troops representing four districts in the East Carolina Council (ECC) took part in a "Winter FREEZE-O-REE" along with 85 registered adult volunteers. Scouts were able to earn their choice of 37 different merit badges.

To "Be Prepared," it's for everyone's benefit, and it's required!

Create an account at MyScouting.orgclick on E-Learning. Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit, along with your Volunteer application, to your unit leader for processing.

The catalog lists 74 different training courses for Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, District Committee, General Studies and Youth.
Online registration closed Monday, Feb 4, but you can still attend!

Walk-in registration is $20, however you will miss the first session, and course materials and a patch are not guaranteed. You will still be able to attend sessions 2-6 and the closing ceremony.
"Scoutmaster Specific Training" Saturday, January 26th
Havelock campus of Craven Community College.
Time: 0900 to 1600. Cost: Free. January 14th registration deadline
"Introduction To Outdoor Leader Skills" (part 2)
February 22-24, 2013 at Winter Camporee, Camp Hatcher South
February 15th registration deadline. Cost: $10 per person.

National Youth Leadership Training at Camp Sam Hatcher 

Registration is now open. The course will be held over the weekends of July 26 - 28, 2013 and August 2 - 4, 2013 and is open to Boy Scouts ages 13 - 17 who have achieved the rank of First Class, Venture Scouts and Sea Scouts to the age of 21.

Philmont Training Center: 2013 Registration & Invitation Process

Since 1950, the Philmont Training Center (PTC) in Cimarron, New Mexico has been the National Volunteer Training Center of the Boy Scouts of America. Conferences offered at PTC are designed to inform and motivate volunteers and professional Scouts-and their families.
