AIR QUALITY CONFORMITY REPORT

AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT

BALTIMORE (May 9, 2013) - The Baltimore region does not meet the current federal air quality standards, and is designated as a moderate non-attainment area for ground-level ozone.

As a result, the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) must analyze both Plan It 2035, the long-range transportation plan, and the short-range Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the region, to determine that projected emission levels will conform with the State Implementation Plan (SIP) developed by the Maryland Department of the Environment.

The draft report, Conformity Determination, details a comprehensive air quality analysis of Plan It 2035 and the amended 2012-2015 TIP for the Baltimore region. The analysis shows that the projects meet the 8-hour ozone and carbon monoxide SIP motor vehicle emissions budgets. The full report is available for download at www.baltometro.org

The BRTB will accept comments on the report through Saturday, May 25. Comments may be submitted in writing to:

Baltimore Regional Transportation Board
Offices @ McHenry Row
1500 Whetstone Way, Suite 300
