The cherry blossoms are blooming; it must be spring!
Good timing for me since I just put the last Santa decoration into our holiday storage spot. Here, at the Family Giving Tree office, we have begun our own spring cleaning by storing away our Holiday Wish Drive materials and pulling out supplies for this season's Back to School Drive. Every Elf is in full transition mode!
Spring cleaning can be a great activity for the whole family. See if you can challenge your children to fill 7 bags with clothing or toys they can share with children who need them. Or, instead of donating the items, have the kids help run a garage sale. They can take their proceeds to the store and shop for backpacks and school supplies for local students in need, or let us do the shopping for you by donating online. These are great opportunities to share the joy of giving with your kids.
Spring is about renewal, and I encourage everyone to start one new thing that helps another person! Beautiful things will start blooming all around us.

Are you an Angel Elf?
Whether you've volunteered in the past or you're looking to learn more about giving back in a meaningful way, you can help us celebrate our most dedicated volunteers! This year's dinner competition: Chili Cook-off: The Rematch. The Elves have teamed up to present award winning chili to show our appreciation for all of the Angel Elves!
Angel Elves are special individuals who generously donate their time, resources and expertise to help our program continue to grow and thrive. They volunteer many hours throughout the year helping in several different facets of the organization.
If you want to become an Angel Elf or get more information about what it takes to earn your wings, join us for our annual volunteer appreciation dinner on March 20th. Help us determine which FGT staff team will take the Chili Cookoff prize this year!

Thank you to Auxogyn, Kiwi Crate, and Animation Mentor for being ahead of the curve by signing up to lead a 2013 Back to School Drive! These companies are participating in our summer program for the first time, and many return hosts have also signed up early! The list includes dentists, churches, and sorority groups.
Tell your friends and family! Leading a Back to School Drive is a great way to provide local low income students with the tools essential for their school year! Sign up your softball team or favorite book store today!

Just in time for Mother's Day, Silpada Jewelry is hosting a non-profit party with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Family Giving Tree's Back to School Drive.
This is a great opportunity to attend a party displaying Silpada's beautiful sterling silver jewelry. Anyone interested in this special, non-profit party can join us from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Thursday April 4th in the Blossom Hill/Los Gatos area.

MommyJuice Wines and Family Giving Tree are proud to announce a partnership that will support Family Giving Tree's mission to provide backpacks full of school supplies to children in need! "Family Giving Tree is dear to my heart and I am honored to support their efforts," said Cheryl Murphy Durzy, mother of two and Founder of MommyJuice Wines. Looking for something unique to give? Purchase items that are listed to benefit Family Giving Tree. Or, doing some spring cleaning? Sell your unwanted items on eBay and donate a portion of the final sale price to our organization. Funds raised go to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to underprivileged children.
