News From Marci & Debra

Hi there,

In our Your Year of Miracles program we're honored to have as our Miracles Coach the amazing Leila Reyes. Leila returned today from a 2 week excursion in Borneo which made us recall an important lesson on letting go that we learned from the monkeys in Borneo...yep, from the monkeys...

Do you know how the natives catch monkeys in Borneo? They hollow out large coconuts and make a hole the size of a monkey's hand. They then fill the coconut with the monkey's favorite food, usually a green banana, and attach the coconut to a chain.

When the monkey finds the coconut he puts his hand inside and grabs the food. The only problem is, now that his hand is in a fist, he can't pull it out. It's said that some of the monkeys will pull and pull until their little wrists are battered and even bloody, but they will not let go of the banana. Eventually the natives come back, put the monkey in a box and cart him away.

Sad, we agree. If only the monkey would have let go, he would have been free to continue to live in his jungle paradise. Instead, his unwillingness to release that banana left him forever trapped behind the bars of a cage.

So what is it that you won't let go of that's keeping you from your freedom? What is it in your life that you don't want to let out of your grip because you're afraid there might not be more?

We invite you to look at your life and choose something to let go of - just one thing to release your grip on - maybe it's an old story of a bad experience you tell yourself over and over. Maybe it's a belief about yourself or about somebody else. Maybe it's physical clutter, like that old bike in the garage that it's time to accept you're never going to ride. Or maybe it's a relationship that isn't supporting your highest good.

Even letting go of one thing will create more space for your miracles.

And if you really want to go for the gold, you might want to let go of 243 things!! Why 243? If you're ready to create a huge space for miracles to come into your life, read about those 243 things in the Miracle Message below.

Always miraculously yours,

Marci and Debra

Miracle Message from Marci
Making Space for Your Future

Have you noticed that there are some people who can let go of things easily and others who hold onto things for dear life? Well, historically, I've fallen into that second category.

A few years ago, I decided to counter my tendency to hold on by consciously practicing letting go. I did that by starting a feng shui ritual that consists of giving away or throwing away 27 items a day for 9 days in a row -- that's 243 things!

I've just completed my latest round of "give-away," and boy, do I feel lighter, clearer, and more excited about what I get to create next in life. I've done this practice many times now, and each time, wonderful things have happened: the stalled deal for my PBS show miraculously came through, the ideal business partner showed up in my life, and I lost 15 pounds, to name just a few.

Everything we own carries an energy with it. As we let go of old energies, it clears the space for us to open to greater new ones. It's amazing how letting go of old pots and pans can help us let go of the bigger things that hold us back.

I've had a lot of practice with letting go in years past...

It's been almost four years since I went through one of my most memorable clearing out processes as we prepared to sell our family home (the one we'd had for 58 years). As we sorted through my mother's belongings, I marveled at her ability to let go of things she'd had forever. Perhaps she had a sense of what was ahead (she passed away three days after the house sold).

But letting go of that home and so many of the items I grew up with (much of the furniture was still the same) was a huge challenge for me. It represented the ending of my childhood (yes, I know that officially ended many years earlier, but there were deep emotional ties that went with that home).

Then letting go of my mother, just days later, was like the Mount Everest of releasing.

On the one-year anniversary of my mother's passing, my family visited our old family home. The new family that bought our home is fabulous. They've renovated, repainted, and decorated it beautifully. And, best of all, there was love and laughter throughout the house. It was thrilling to see the "baton" being passed to this family. Coincidentally, they have the same family configuration that our family had when my parents and my older brother and sister moved in almost six decades earlier (one six-year-old girl and one five-year-old boy). Our letting go was their fresh start.

If you're ready for a fresh start in any area of your life, I invite you to try the feng shui ritual for yourself. Here's how to do it:

  1. Each day for nine days in a row give away or throw away 27 items. Notice what you're hanging on to, not because you love it, but because you're afraid to let it go.
  2. Stand in your closet and touch or try on every piece of clothing. Ask yourself whether you want to carry that into your life ahead - if it represents the future you. If not, give it away or throw it away.
  3. Clear out old books that don't have messages that speak to you anymore, vitamins or medicines you no longer need, kitchen items that are cracked or worn-out. (Or how about those half-used shampoo bottles from four years ago?)
  4. Fix items that are broken (or get rid of them). Clean items that are dirty.
  5. Take one final look around and see whether what's left represents who you are now and who you want to be in the future.

Then notice what happens in your life -- and watch for miracles. As you let go of things that carry old energy, you also strengthen your ability to let go of old ideas or feelings that no longer serve you.

You now have more freedom to create your miraculous future.

About Debra

Debra Poneman spent the decade of the 70's teaching meditation to thousands and studying with some of the greatest spiritual Masters of the east - often in deep meditation for 10 to 12 hours a day and silence for weeks at a time. In the early 1980's, she began examining the knowledge of the great Masters of western metaphysical thought and founded Yes to Success Seminars to bring to the masses then "radical" ideas like everything is energy and your thoughts create your reality.

Within a few short years, Debra's seminars were established in cities across the US and internationally on four continents. Debra's infomercial was the first to ever to offer a "self-improvement" product and was broadcast in dozens of major US markets. She regularly appeared on TV, radio and in print from coast to coast. Her client list included Fortune 500 companies - at a time when there were only a handful of women corporate trainers - and her students went on to become mega-successful entrepreneurs, New York Times bestselling authors, renowned transformational leaders, millionaires, billionaires, and even household names.

In 1988 in the midst of negotiations for her own daytime TV talk show and with a contract in hand with a major publisher for her Yes to Success book, Debra chose to follow a different passion. For 20 years she disappeared from the public eye to be a stay-at-home mom.

Debra, now a best-selling author, is back once again sharing her knowledge with the world on what it takes to create a life of success, happiness and miracles.
