THE SAFEST RIDE - Safe Kids Clark County, in partnership with York Elementary and your local police, fire and EMS agencies want to help protect your child from serious injury and death. Did you know that according to Washington State law, kids under the age of 13 are required to ride in the back seat whenever practical to do so? Many families are unaware that Washington State has a back seat law and are unclear why such a law exists.  During a recent observational study of our school, we found that 30% of children under the age of 13 were riding in the front seat. Over the next few weeks, we will be providing education to students and families regarding this very important law, but more importantly why the back seat is The Safest Ride
5th GRADE SHADOW DAY / MOVING UP PARENT NIGHT - March 1st is our annual 5th grade shadow day, where the 5th graders come to the Middle School and get to experience a "day in the life" of a middle school student. All of the students look forward to this day each year.  That evening, starting at 6:30, all 5th grade parents are encouraged to attend our "Moving Up Night" at the Middle School campus. This is a time for parents to meet the Middle School staff, tour the campus, and ask questions.

PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOUSEIf your 8th grader is planning to attend Prairie High School next year, they are encouraged to attend their Open House on 3/17 from 6:30-8:00pm.  This is a chance to see the various clubs, sports and academic programs that Prairie has to offer. There will also be a chance to sign-up for a school tour, which will be held on 3/25. Check out the flyer for more information.

ROBOTICS CLUB! - CCA is interested in starting a weekly after school robotics program that will run from March-May of this year.  We are looking for parent volunteers to lead a small group of students. Technology or robotics experience is not required.  Parents will receive service hours for their volunteer time.  To learn more about this program, go to First Lego League's website. Please email Tracy Stevens if you would like to volunteer!

EVENT HELP NEEDED - A well-loved CCA tradition, the "Variety Show and Dessert Raffle", is in need of your help!  We are looking for someone to step up to coordinate this event, and a team of helpers to assist them.  The Variety Show has been rescheduled to the last Friday in April (4/29). If no one steps forward, we will have to cancel this event this year.  If you would be willing to help, or have any questions about what is involved, please send an email to Mrs. Thulin. Thank you!

THANK YOU CCA FAMILY! - Thank you to everyone who contributed to Lori Arnold's family on GoFundMe.  We reached our goal of $1000!  We would love to bless them above and beyond our goal, so if anyone would still like to contribute, you can drop your donation of cash or check to the elementary office, and let them know it's for the Arnold Family Fund.  All money raised goes directly to the Arnold family. Thank you for helping us bless this family!
Are you a Web Developer? We could use your help!

Box Tops & Campbells Labels

Did you know that CCA earns money for each and every Box Top & Campbells label you turn in? This money has been used for much needed items from PE Equipment to Art Supplies. As an added incentive, we have quarterly contests to see which class can bring in the most! If you have any questions, please contact the PTF.
Effortless Fundraising

CCA has partnered with Fred Meyer and AmazonSmile in an opportunity to raise money. For Fred Meyer customers, it is as easy as linking your rewards card. For Amazon.com shoppers, all of the same products, prices, and service you are accustomed to are accessible through AmazonSmile, which donates 0.5% of each purchase to CCA. By taking a few simple steps you may aide in the raising of funds. For more information about the necessary steps, see our flyer.
