ELEMENTARY PICK-UP PROCEEDURES
With so many new families this year, we have experienced an increase in pick-up traffic.
If your child is in a class in the East Pod, your pick up is in the back lot turn-around area.
Some steps to follow:
1. Pull forward as far as you can in the loop.
2. Do not leave your vehicle.
3. Always have children load from passenger side only.
4. Wait for the vehicle to pull out, don't try to go around the one ahead of you.
If your child is picked up in the front area, there are two lanes to choose from. The RIGHT hand lane is for pick-up of fourth and fifth grade students. The LEFT hand land is for pick-up of kindergarten and first grade students.
In either lane, we will have pedestrians crossing in the crosswalk where student-safety guards and Mr. Hoff will control traffic flow.
Here are some safety guidelines to follow to make this a quick and safe area:
1. Pull as far forward as possible in the loading areas.
2. Do not leave your vehicle, teachers will help students get to the car safely.
3. ALWAYS have children load from the passenger side only as traffic will be passing on the driver's side.
4. Once loaded, proceed cautiously and immediately to make room for others picking up children behind you.
Kindergarten and first grade parents, if you choose to not use the vehicle pick-up area and park in the lot, use the CROSSWALK only. It is our desire to teach students roadside safety that will transfer to public spaces and crosswalk use is part of that training. When you J-walk, students are learning an unsafe practice for those times they are in the community. Join us in keeping your children safe by using the crosswalk.
