Greetings!

This month sees our first trip round the London Ring since 2011 and planning it has reminded me what a great little trip it is, encompassing some popular London landmarks and some that most people are not even aware of.

Contrary to our original plan, we have decided to cruise round the Ring clockwise so will be starting at Brentford Lock. This has the benefit of us arriving at the Fox in Hanwell in time for a lunchtime pint to fortify us for the Hanwell Flight, a flight of 6 locks, rising 53ft over a third of a mile. The good news is that our first day will end at Willowtree Marina which now boasts an award winning restaurant, which we are booked into for supper.

We have three boats doing this trip (so far) and plenty of room for crew to join us. Your help on Friday would be especially appreciated as the Hanwell Flight can be quite hard work, however should you wish to join us on one of the other days, you would of course be very welcome.

Coming Up

Friday 17th June - Sunday 19th June - The London Ring

Our trip around the London Ring will leave Brentford Dock at around 11.15 on Friday 17th June. I will be taking Hebe III, Christine will be taking C Sharp and Deborah plans to come along with her narrowboat Henry.

We will head out of Brentford Dock and then through Brentford Lock, onto the River Brent heading up towards Hanwell. After negotiating a couple of locks we will reach the Grand Union Canal and The Fox for a very quick lunchtime pint, before tackling the Hanwell Flight. Our day will end at Willowtree Marina, were we will have supper at the award winning Lock and Quay restaurant. Transport back to Brentford can be arranged for anybody that needs it.

On Saturday will will plan to leave Willowtree and head for Paddington Basin where we will probably stop for lunch, before heading on towards Regents Park and Camden Town, possibly stopping at the Bargehouse in Haggerston overnight if we make it that far. We will set off on the final stretch on Sunday morning which should get us to Limehouse, and on to the Thames for the journey back up the Thames to Brentford Dock on Sunday afternoon.

Anybody wishing to crew for the day is welcome to join us for -just let me know which day/days you would like to come. Skippers please let me know if you would like to join this trip - its not too late.

Just Been

Saturday 21st May - Afternoon cruise

After a later start than originally anticipated, the assembled company of six decided to pile onto Christine's boat for our afternoon trip down the river. The weather couldn't quite decide what to do, but the rain stayed away and the canopy stayed up for most of the afternoon.

With out time slightly curtailed we headed up to Teddington then turned back, stopping for tea and snacks just outside Richmond on the way back.
