10th April 2015

Thanks to those of you that came on the photographic cruise, braving the rain and early start after the clocks changed. Hopefully it will produce a few good photo's for our fledgling photo competition.

We have decided to postpone the downstream cruise planned for 12th April, so out next event will be welcoming Twickenham Yacht Club on Friday 24th April, when their first cruise of the season will be a trip to Brentford for a curry at Sami Spice. We hope to join TYC on some of their cruises later this year, so its a great opportunity for everybody to get to know each other. If you fancy coming along, please let me know so that we can give Sami Spice numbers.

Best wishes

Andrew Kirkwood

Photographic Cruise - 29th March

The weather for our photographic cruise was not the spring sunshine with long shadows that we envisaged. Although the weather forecasters were predicting 50mph winds and heavy rain in some parts of the country, Brentford escaped with light wind and intermittent showers. Not allowing our spirits to be dampened, Lazy II and Hebe III set off regardless and some photo's were taken, as we cruised up to Teddington and back.

The Brewery Tap gave us its traditional warm welcome afterwards with 14 of our members in for drinks and/or Sunday lunch.

Coming Up

Friday 24th April - BCC welcomes Twickenham Yacht Club
Twickenham Yacht club plan to come and moor on our outer pontoon and go for a curry at Sami Spice Brentford. Steve and I will be joining them and if you would like to come along too, please let me know so that we can confirm numbers.TYC plan to arrive at Brentford at around 6pm, with Sami Spice booked for 6.30pm.
Saturday 9th May - Trip to the London VTS in Woolwich
Steve has managed to book us into the London VTS, the Port of London Authority's Vessel Traffic Services HQ, which monitors the movements of all vessels using the River Thames below Teddington. Access to the centre is by arrangement only as it not open to the general public, so this is a great chance to see the inner workings of the river's traffic control.

We now have 12 people booked for this event which is as many as we are able to take, however if you would like to come please let Steve know in case anybody drops out.

Saturday 16th May - Lunch at The White Swan, Twickenham.
HW is at 14.15 so we will plan to leave around midday to get to Twickenham in time for a pre-lunch pint and lunch at the White Swan. If you would like to join this cruise, please let me know.
